Races of Faerun... ummm.. yawn?

so what's the point in priting this book then??
The point would be to provide descriptions (and probably some rules-sets) for the physiology, psychology and sociology of the major humanoid races of the Realms. That's worthwhile to me.

The Tome and Blood version was screwed up. A revised and corrected version was later posted online as errata. Maybe they are just putting the fixed one into print.

Or maybe they are expanding the weapon options beyond long swords...as I recall, the original version (2ed) could specialize in any weapon.

Something to use with your Snakestrike Duellist mini...

yup, got the errata'd version as soon as it came out ... I was just hoping it wasn't a way of getting more money out of us (well not me ...)

oh, here's a book for x and y ...

oh look in two months there's gonna a new FR book out ... say isn't that almost the same thing as the last x and y book?

Proving once again that you underestimate the strength of the Kobold Revolution.

Let's make him run for cover, and treat him to an experience that will make Tucker's tale sound like a walk through Waterdeep Park. :)

It's just one prestige class. Probably one page of the book.

Maybe they will have some sort of pretty new picture.

Granted, it shouldn't've been screwed up in the first place, but I'm not sure that including one prestige class which previously saw print (in an inferior form) constitutes a devious corporate scheme to sell us the same stuff twice.

And as you mention...they gave it to you for free the first time.

HEY RICH BAKER!

I want to file a missing race report ... there's no Saurial (Dragonbait's people) in that book. What gives? I mean if you want to spotlight about Realms-specific race (technically they migrated to Faerun from another universe thanks to Moander), this is one of them.

Now if you have something planned for them in the future (uh-oh, it's going to be a web enhancement because of the -- and I air quote it -- "The book is already filled and there is no space left" lame excuse), do let us know.

please... if the blase singer wasn't reprinted, we'd all be complaining that we need to buy an extra book just for the PrC...

i do not believe that this is about money making. i think its about making books usable on their own...

i like the fact that they reprint stuff, so there!

I have to buy this book just for the breechgnome PrC. I tried to recreate it several times, but it never worked out quite right. I have to use this in my friend's FR game.

I agree that the book needs kolbolds and saurials. ANother missing race is the Siv from Monsters of Faerun. I love these guys-there's something hilarious about arrogant, evil frog monks with an insane desire to rule the world! Luckily they're pretty easy to figure out from the MoF entry, but I'd like more info (such as where they are from).

Re: HEY RICH BAKER!

Why didn't we do the saurials? Well, there are a couple of reasons.

First, the book was short on space. No lie. I had to cut about 30,000 words from Eric Boyd's turnover alone.

Second, the saurials are isolated in one particular spot of the Realms, and don't seem to get out much.

Third, the saurials have a number of strange abilities that don't convert to 3-E very nicely, like the whole "we speak at a frequency you can't hear" thing.

Finally, and I hate to say this, saurials just fall a little too far on the wrong side of my personal wacky-meter. Everybody's got their own opinions, and I won't represent mine as any better than anyone else's about this sort of thing, but I'm just not in a hurry to get the saurials into 3E game product. I know a number of people will feel differently, but hey, there it is.

No space, huh?

Well, what about the human/culture chapter? Do we really need it? How many pages of that material is taking up in Races of Faerun?
