Jeez... they must really not want people to make uber-optimal warlords. Str/Int and Str/Cha are the only two combos I can see that still only have a single race attributed to them.

Genasi are so cool you only need them as a STR/INT. ;) Plus, with 13 manifestations you can tailor your race.

I was looking over Warlord Paragon paths again this weekend and I'm now of the opinion they have THE coolest Paragon Paths. I have a Thaneborn Barbarian multiclassed as a Warlord and I may go that route as I don't really like any of teh Barbarian Paragon Paths for flavor. My plan has always been to go Elemental Tempest but a few of the Warlord ones are just so great from a resistance leader standpoint.

Really glad that they've finally released these, especially since I'm just about to start a campaign with people whose D&D experience is mostly Encounters.

Ignoring Gnolls and Bladelings really doesn't surprise me, ESPECIALLY bladelings, which barely qualify as a PC race with how little support they gave the write-up. That said, I'd love for bladelings to come back, but HEAVILY EDITED. Including with far better pictures.

Eh... I've never been overly enthused about the genasi, especially with 13 manifestations to choose from. They are supposed to be such an obscure race in pretty much every setting except FR that the fact there *are* 13 different variations means that any one manifestation would be like the only clan found across an entire continent.

Thus having that be the lone Str/Int combo means that the best single source of tactical warlords in any setting is a PC who is like the only person of that race you're ever going to actually see (unless you just blow thing up and make genasi as populous as elves, but to me that's almost even worse.)

Standard tactical warlords, sure (and yeah, another Str//Int race would be nice--though not as needed at Con/Int races were!). But lazy warlords have little to no use for Str, and can easily be built as humans (who actually make really good "mostly lazy" warlords with Heroic Effort to give the odd daily a good hit chance), con/int for survivability, Int/wis (deva FTW), etc.

This seems to be a common line of thought. Why does population or NPC's have anything to do with PC races? Or classes for that matter? What's a warlord? It's just a bunch of game mechanics. Why does a fantasy world's population care about game mechanics for a PC?

In something like LFR, the PC population may at times feel like the NPC population. There was a time when it felt like Faerun would be taken over by Fullblade wielding Elven Avengers of Tempus from Impiltur. But turned out that was more of a fashion statement, they eventually all found the way of Corellon. Anyway, in most normal campaign worlds, I don't see why racial stat pairings or class mechanics would impact NPC's. NPC's are story elements for the campaign, if my campaign is going to have a tribe of 20 intelligence halfling holy warriors, then that's what it shall have. I don't care that paladins don't use intelligence as a primary stat, nor do I care that halflings don't have a racial bonus to intelligence.

Probably a bit OT, sorry.

And now we wait 2 months for them to show up in the Character Builder... weeeeeeeeeee.

I am glad they got the stats up (even without the Kenku stuff, my poor Kenku sorcerer).

Enjoy,
