OMG, let me just start off by telling you how much I love this spell. It has changed my live. I see the light, I see the light. Get it? Yeah, you got it.

For starters, it only takes up a 5th level slot. Finally, I thought to myself, when coming across this gem: A spell worth filling up a 5th level slot for.
It last one round per level and wait for it...wait for it...

It DAZZLES all undead in a 60 ft emanation. I know, I too had an orgasm when I read that.

I pictured a scene where you were surrounded by undead and then you pop off this bad boy and all the undead would be like 'oh, gosh darnit, I'm all dazzled and s***, the light, the light, I feel so uncomfortable, my eyes are overstimulated, I have a marginally smaller chance to hit you, I can't find anything'

Goodnight.

Not all spells are broken or even balanced. Some are weak. Some need errata.

The going rate for 60' Illumination is a 3rd level spell or a 1gp sunrod. so there is not a lot of agreement on what light should cost.

Got any fixes to suggest or did you just need to gush about finding a weak spell?

I'd say make everyone in the area dazzled, increase the duration to Daylight's duration and give it "No save, No SR" if it did not already have it and drop it to 4th. Those with eyes sensative to bright light [drow, kobolds & orcs] take doble thier normal penaties as well and cry tears of blood [1 hp per round] unless they keep thier eyes closed.

I can't see why you wouldn't want to not take such a wonderful spell. Is it an arcane spell so that a Sorcerer could pick it?
Yes. It's Clr5, Drd5, Sor/Wiz5. The poor paladins, bards and rangers must be dying of envy.

Check out obscuring snow in combination with snowsight (both from Frostburn). A 30-foot radius of obscuring snow that moves with the caster and lasts 1 hour/level (!!!). Combine with snowsight (druid 1, 1 hour/level) cast on everyone in the party and, Voila!, mobile zone of blindness that nerfs all your enemies yet provides no hindrance to the party. Talk about broken.

Or how about boreal wind, also from Frostburn. Can be read to deal up to 15d4 per round for 1 round plus 1 round/2 levels, plus blows back opponents up to 3 feet per caster level.

Yeah, Frostburn has some problems...

Amidst all of the occasionally too-too-serious rules discussions (to which I've contributed more than my fair share) this tasty bit of sarcasm was a welcome gem.
