RAI: Pinning a Dragon's Mouth Shut

No, we're talking about having the strength, technique, and mass to stop something from moving that is larger than your body.

Fixed that for you. :p

Seriously, lots of actual martial arts teach to control an opponent who could be larger than you. Again, if a medium character has grapple +40 or whatever, far as I'm concerned, his ability to grapple is superhuman.

Actually, there is no martial arts that teaches you to control something that has 1000X your mass. And no, nothing in the grapple rules allows you to clamp the mouth shut of a huge dragon... I'd let players try it though. Just for the entertainment (and taste) value. ;)

"Fixed it for you" is considered rude, and we don't do it here.

Thanks

In the real world.

There are also no 20th level monks in the real world. But that's irrelevant, isn't it? ;)

As StreamOfTheSky said, a medium-sized character with a +40 grapple modifier is superhuman...and quite possibly might have developed a martial art that allows you to control something that has 1000X your mass.

As far as I know, there is no magic either. That doesn't stop it from existing in DnD.

The OP of this thread asked if the "prevent pinned opponent from speaking" clause would apply to breath weapons or bite attacks. The "prevent pinned opponent from speaking" clause has no size restriction. There is no size restriction on pinning. So, as far as this thread is concerned, if "preventing pinned opponent from speaking" equates to clamping their mouth shut, then yes. Yes there is.

Can a pinned creature use natural weapons?

Really? Nothing on the page you linked about being unable to use natural weapons... Have a quote?
After stating what actions you can take while pinned, the article goes on to say:
"You cannot take any other actions except to make an opposed grapple check to escape the pin in place of an attack."
As I read it, "any other actions" would include attacking with a natural weapon.
