Random lists

Do you use random generators/tables when playing?

  • Never, I or my players don't like random things

  • Never, because random tools provide uncoherent results but I'll try sometime

  • Sometime, a bit of randomness is always welcome

  • Most of the time, my players get excited each time they get something unusual

  • Always, even my setting is randomly generated

  • Really, what's the question?

Hiya!

Wow. I'm the only person (currently as of this post) who chose "Always, even my setting is randomly generated" option. :)

My 5e campaign 'world' that we've played in the most is aptly named "Genericka". It's pretty, well, "generic"...or I guess I could say a little more "cliche"? All standard PHB stuff...no MC no Feats. Other stuff from other sources on a case by case basis that my be removed if needed.

I started it with a map from Dyson Logos. The map/'adventure area' I used was the "Challenge of the Frog Idol" adventure (Here: [Labyrinth Lord] Challenge of the Frog Idol ). Then I just grabbed a couple of his other maps for some of the towns or other areas/dungeons, but once the PC's headed off-grid, I whipped out my "D30 Sandbox Companion" supplement (and their "Hex-Crawl Mapping" book). The guy/company who made them is "New Big Dragon Games Unlimited" (got the PDF's off of DriveThruRPG.com - New Big Dragon Games Unlimited - The Largest RPG Download Store! ).

Combined with my custom "Hot/Medium/Cold d12 Tables" I created for use with Dominion Rules RPG...but the tables are specifically generic and only for 'random idea sparking', the world of Genericka is anything but boring! :)

(here's my "HMC d12 Tables" if anyone is interested; specifically the 'Trifecta of Twelve' tables...: Dominions of Alstigar | Obsidian Portal )

So, yeah. Random Tables FTW! :D
