Random post with a cave...

I light a torch and throw it into the darkness. Then I unsheathe my sword, which smells of baked bread anytime danger is near.

The sword is smelling wonderful... or perhaps not, depending on your love of bread. The torchlight reveals a scaled beast of perhaps eight feet in height. It takes your torch by its end and raises it, the torchlight illuminating its eyes.

With a laugh, it turns and bounds off into the tunnel the torchlight reveals, quickly turning a corner, and is lost to sight, although you can still hear its mocking laugh echoing through the cave.

What do you do?

Cheers!

"I say we take off and nuke the entire site from orbit. It's the only way to be sure. And Hudson, what the hell are you doing with a spear?"

From above the cave, above the planet, you sit in your ship, while Hudson readies the nukes. Below, you can see the crystal city, glinting in the sunlight - in the brief moments before it is obliterated in the glare of a thousand suns.

Hudson comes up beside you, and relays that he has fulfilled your orders - you note that he's wearing a golden pin in his lapel that depicts a four-armed figure.

An alarm begins to sound within the ship and, looking to the controls, you note that the power plant is failing.

What do you do?

Cheers!

"Wanderer you say; a name I've heard before-in yet untold stories. The Spirits gave me dreams, the dreams gave me visions, and the visions give reality. Though I seek the truth after reality, the only way to wake up is to continue dreaming. And thats why I am here." I reply in a soft tone.

"What guided YOU down here, is what I wonder and yet not know, dear Walker of the Deep."

Is he armed? Does he look well fed? He has anything on him I recognize? What else is around me?

"Poor Alberich lives here, stranger. Poor Alberich - always cursed and spat upon, and not loved by his kin. No-one loves me, nor can I find the way out. Tell me, stranger, are you from the outside world? Do you know the Sun, the Moon and the Stars?"

He looks poorly fed, yet still with a wiry strength about him. His cloths are rough and poorly made, perhaps of some sort of leather or hide unknown to you. You have fallen into a smallish cavern that now, by Alberich's torch, glitters with crystals causing mazed patterns of light to reflect everywhere.

Two narrow tunnels lead out, from one of them (the right) the dwarf appeared.

What do you do now?

Cheers!

"Yes, indeed I do know them." I reply, remembering how the Shaman of my tribe was forbidding me to look at them, forbidding me to see the power of their Spirits, and how I escaped the punishment of blindness for ignoring his warnings. "More than most would hope to, I can say. And I can also say that the Spirits do love you, Alberich. It is strange indeed that your kin doesn't feel the same way."

"Even if you can't see well in the dark," I say remembering how he didn't recognize me, "You will still be my guide."

"Say, does your Kin knows how to summon the Spirit of Fire? It is the only which can lead us out."

And If he replies that he doesn't, I tell him how to light a torch with what materials may do.

He looks at you strangely, and says, "Is what I'm not holding a torch in the upper world?" He waves it around, the flames dance and the crystal reflections glare for a moment.

"Spirits, hah! I have seen all I need of the flittering, bossy ones, and the deeper ones have rejected me. All have rejected me, and so I live alone... or have done until now.

"You will stay with Alberich, will you not? I can give you food and shelter and bind your wounds. Perhaps then you can lead me out?"

What do you do?

Cheers!

(Well, I expected it to be something magical since it appeared suddenly :P)

I look into the flames. "No. If you want, you can help me tie my wounds. But by stopping trying one may give in to the dream. We should move on as soon as we can. Where those paths lead? And may I have your torch?" I ask.

Then I use its flame on a fallen stone, and when it becomes hot enough, I touch it. I feel the whole rock in my hands, and I ask the Spirits for Guidance. Then I try to feel which side of the rock is hotter.

He looks at you, his face suddenly terrified. "You're one of them!" he shouts, and turns - swifter than you might imagines - and darts down the corridor from which he came. You look at the torch you took from him, and can feel that the stone is hotter on the side pointing to the tunnel that Alberich did not take.

Looking more carefully, with your torch in hand, you see that moss grows on the damp surface of the rock down the corridor your stone indicates; Alberich has fled down one entirely more barren and stony.

What do you do?

Cheers!

I swiftly carve a sun on the wall, with a ray pointing to the way I will go, thinking that it may help him follow me to his way out, when he changes his mind. Then I enter the corridor with the moss, trying not to step on it, leaving obvious traces, that the rest of Alberich's kin could follow. I use my spear to keep my balance if it is slippery. What happens? :P

You see a cave in a hillside. What do you do?

Cheers!

<OoC>Since it appears differently for each person, and we can setup pre-conditions..</OoC>

I noticed this cave while visiting a local park. It's possible there could be a bear, coyote, or snakes in there. Let alone bats.

I check for tracks and listen, to see if its obviously occupied or not.

If I don't notice anything, I'm inclined to bring a flashlight and a heft stick to explore 5-10 feet in, while my friends wait outside.

1E: I put the cave in my backpack, to check it out later. Because in 1E, you can put pretty much anything in your backpack...

2E: Well, I just happen to be running a Caverunner fighter/thief kit, so I zip through that cave so fast that no one sees me, and I clean out all the treasure... what did I get?

3E: I use my Nuke Cave feat to destroy that cave!

4E: Um... I got nothing... never seen the rules...
