You see a cave in a hillside. What do you do?
Cheers!
I draw my sword and exclaim "By golly, there must be treasure in there! Petey, light the lantern and let us approach."

<OoC>Since it appears differently for each person, and we can setup pre-conditions..</OoC>
I noticed this cave while visiting a local park. It's possible there could be a bear, coyote, or snakes in there. Let alone bats.
I check for tracks and listen, to see if its obviously occupied or not.
If I don't notice anything, I'm inclined to bring a flashlight and a heft stick to explore 5-10 feet in, while my friends wait outside.
1E: I put the cave in my backpack, to check it out later. Because in 1E, you can put pretty much anything in your backpack...
2E: Well, I just happen to be running a Caverunner fighter/thief kit, so I zip through that cave so fast that no one sees me, and I clean out all the treasure... what did I get?
3E: I use my Nuke Cave feat to destroy that cave!
4E: Um... I got nothing... never seen the rules...
I swiftly carve a sun on the wall, with a ray pointing to the way I will go, thinking that it may help him follow me to his way out, when he changes his mind. Then I enter the corridor with the moss, trying not to step on it, leaving obvious traces, that the rest of Alberich's kin could follow. I use my spear to keep my balance if it is slippery. What happens?![]()
I draw my sword and exclaim "By golly, there must be treasure in there! Petey, light the lantern and let us approach."
The moss is everywhere; not stepping on it is not an option, but it provides a somewhat firm surface beneath your feat; indeed, somewhat like walking on grass.
After walking for about half-an-hour, with much use of your spear to keep your balance as the floor of the tunnel is particularly bumpy and rough, you hear the sound of water falling head: a great splashing sound.
The tunnel widens into a cavern. Above, the crystals - which are more prominent here - catch the light of your torch and reflect a wonderland: a great waterfall falls to the left and becomes a river that flows swiftly through the chamber before exiting to your right. Giant mushrooms and other fungi cluster around the water, and blind, white fish swim with swift, darting movements near the banks.
It seems that there are many exits from this chamber, but - save the fungi - there is nothing large living here. Upon further consideration of the cavern, you notice a pillar of rock rising within the fungi. It looks like it might have been carved, as it seems entirely too regular, but you are still some way from it.
What do you do?
Cheers!
As you run away from the cave, down the side of the hill, you see a great city of steel and marble stretching out in front of you. Towers of glass and silver reach towards the sky, and a great river flows through the city from right to left.
However, you can see no movement or any life at all; the city seems dead.
What do you do?
Cheers!
Two parallel grooves in the dirt lead inside the cave, as if something heavy was pushed inside. Shortly inside the cave, a great pit yawns, leading down beyond what your flashlight can illuminate, although there is a safe way on either side around it to a tunnel beyond.
Your friends call to you, and you see them pointing at the sky: balls of fire are descending towards the city below.
What do you do?
Cheers!
First I reach the pillar, to examine the carvings. I try not to touch any fungi, since it may be poisonous. What do I see?
Then I check if the fish fall from the river. Since they are blind, if they fall from the river it would mean that the river doesn't come from somewhere above the ground. Then I check if the river is made of water, by touching it with my hand (I wont taste it though). Then Ill put my hand in the water, to see if the fish will get scared.
How many exits are in the room? Where the water from the waterfall goes? Can I reach for a crystal, to later decorate my spear?
Oh, THAT can't be good.
I'm checking my compass, then running another way, expeditiously.
