Ranged Touch Attack and Point Blank Shot

First Post
I'm pretty new at all this D20 stuff, so I really hope I'm not posting a question here that is answered clearly, but I've searched the rulebooks and the official Wizards FAQ, and if it's right there in plain english, I've missed it bigtime.

Point Blank Shot grants you a +1 bonus on attack and damage rolls with ranged weapons at rages of up to 30 feet.

Does Ranged Touch Attack count as a "ranged weapon" for purposes of this feat?

I'm thinking about taking this feat for my Rogue/Wizard, and just wondering if it could help me out on both fronts.

Thanks,

Thanks so much guys. I'll look closer at Tome and Blood again.

Can you confirm or deny that the Rogue's Sneak attack extra damage would apply too if he uses a Ranged Touch Attack within 30 feet on a flat-footed opponent?

Thanks,

Forvalaka

Yes, if you have to roll a hit roll to hit someone with a spell (and it does damage - no sneak attacks with Ray of Enfeeblement) you will get the sneak attack damage too (this is also discussed in Tome and Blood :D)

DOH, I should have looked at Tome and Blood first before replying with the follow up question.

The section you guys must have been referring me to in the first place was the section on "Weaponlike Spells".

Two sections later there is a section specifically on "Sneak Attacks" to say the Rogue can definitely use the spell for an opportunist attack.

Sorry for the quick follow up.

It's ok.

BTW - the last time this came up someone basically said something like "Allowing Ray of Frost to do 1-3+6d8 points of damage is impossible and stupid and so is anyone that allows it" so I hope that person doesn't see this thread (we disagreed of course) :)

I wasn't that person but I kind of did prefer the system where the sneak attack daamge was based upon the base damage done. It rubs me the wrong way that the damage between a high level sneak attack with a dull spoon and a high level sneak attack with a short sword is so small. Sneak attacks were worthless in 2e so I don't want to go back to them, but I would of liked some middle ground, like maybe the extra dice are d4 if an inapropriate weapon is used, d6 the rest of the time.

Mainly cuz there weren't sneak attacks in 2e but backstabs instead. =o)

And 2x-4x damage was nowhere near worthless when you can wield two weapons backstab with both doing 1d8+str+other mods. Granted sneak attacks are much better and all though. =o)
