This is about lycanthropes and their type. It is stated in the MM that when a creature becomes a lycanthrope it retains its original type, but also gains the shapechanger subtype. So, couldn't a ranger specialize into this subtype? I'm using Scarred Lands Campaign Setting and there's a whole lot of stuff here that's anti-lycanthropes. I'm just curious if a ranger can still select them as a favored enemy and create an even deadlier combination out of all the stuff that is available?
On the other hand the ranger in question is level 10, so he can just pick humans and animals, and hope that the lycanthropes that he runs into fall into one of those two groups. Natural or infected. Plus he has access to spells such as Hunter's Moon and Hunter's Stalk, so it is possible to live without the class ability benefits.
