Ranger Feats

Yeah, I keep thinking about adding some levels of rogue... the sneak attack just fits the whole commando image really well. Problem is, I like the new ranger so much, I don't want to lose any time getting to the higher level abilities. I'll have to think about it. I just wish uncanny dodge wasn't pushed out to 4th. Getting 2d6 sneak attack and uncanny dodge for 3 levels of rogue was pretty cool.

As for bastard sword.... I guess, but I still think one handed weapons are a lot more appropriate for a guy who's going to be traipsing through the woods trying not to get snagged on bushes etc, doing the commando thing.

Uhm, when I did this stuff in LARPs and so,... I had a bastard sword on the back as well as about 20 more weapons somewhere else. Believe me, as long as you carry a longbow through the woods, nothing short of a polearm inhibits you more :D

You could think about 1 level rogue (NOT the first!) and ask your DM for that houseruled Dirty Fighting feat from Plane Sailing... it adds 1d6 sneak attack damage, prerequisite BAB +4.

I wouldn't care for Uncanny Dodge, your sneaky skills and spot should keep you from being ambushed...

Maxx your initiative.

Since Manyshot says this "Benefit: As a standard action, you may fire two arrows at a single opponent within 30 feet" we are letting it be used with Shot on the Run. If the ranged guy wants to spend that many feats for that , then he is entitled to use it. Besides, it says you can do it according to the book.

Go for High-Dex medium Str fighter with 2 shortswords of wounding (kill a kelvezu(?) and get his dagger of greater wounding :) ) and shock or sonic. Take weapon finesse for a good attack bonus since all you need is hit. Drain the Con pretty fast with 5 or 6 attacks a round.
Ranged attacks : Bows rule.
Quickdraw never hurts for an archer.

You will get serious problems in dishing out damage against DR you can't overcome and opponents immune to criticals. But that's another story ;) .

;) Hehe, normally, a kelvezu hunts a player character, not vice versa. And he's a quite nasty hunter, although sometimes he plays with his prey. Hm, perhaps your DM won't allow wounding weapons. See http://enworld.cyberstreet.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=59909

Back to topic: Quick Draw is definately an underestimated feat. And it's quite stylish for a mobile fighter.
If you go for critical damage, take a scimitar combined with improved critical.
Take one or two levels fighter for the feats and four levels rogue for the skills and uncanny dodge and so on, the rest is for he ranger.

A single attack is a standard action according to the SRD.

"Standard Action: A standard action allows you to do something, most commonly make an attack or cast a spell"

A single attack is a standard action, but a standard action is not a single attack. Not only.

SHOT ON THE RUN [GENERAL]
Prerequisites: Dex 13, Dodge, Mobility, Point Blank Shot, base attack bonus +4.
Benefit: When using the attack action with a ranged weapon, you can move both before and after the attack, provided that your total distance moved is not greater than your speed.
Special: A fighter may select Shot on the Run as one of his fighter bonus feats.

The feat mentions the attack action, not a standard action.

So your contention is that, using Shot on the Run, I can move, cast Ray of Frost, and move again?

Casting Ray of Frost is a standard action; it's a ranged attack; and it qualifies as a weapon for feats like Weapon Focus... am I missing anything important?

-Hyp.

No because it says "When using the attack action with a ranged weapon"

Ray of Frost is a spell not a ranged weapon.

------------------------------------------

So according to your logic Darklone, shot on the run can be used with any attack action (full or standard).

But a full round action only allows you to move 5 ft, so the only attack action left is a standard (besides partial).

*shrug*

If the official errata says it can't be used with Manyshot, then so be it. We are willing to let the two be used together right now, but that is us.
