Ranger Prime Shot

The ranger picture from the PHB lists rangers as getting Prime Shot but he character sheet from DDXP does not have prime shot, but the warlock does have Prime Shot. Does anyone know if WOTC R&D moved the ability from the warlock to ranger after DDXP, if they left if off the ranger sheet, or if the half-elf was able to gain the ability?

If none of your allies are closer to your target than you are (equidistant is ok), +1 to ranged attacks against that target.

Honestly, that sounds more like a ranger ability than a warlock ability. So I'd guess that the designers decided to give the ranger that ability, instead of the warlock (perhaps late stage playtesting revealed that the warlock was outdoing the ranger as a ranged striker).

We still don't know if there are class features that are gained at levels other than 1st. (Powers excluded)

It is possible that it was formerly a Warlock ability.

It's also possible that Prime Shot was an ability that you had to choose over something else, and the XP Ranger chose a different option.

If that's true, then the XP Warlock gained it via some Half-Elf ability OR it's a shared feature for Strikers perhaps.

My understanding is that it's a ranger ability that the half-elf warlock poached with her racial.

I kind of doubt it, because the DDXP ranger was clearly "archer" build and didn't have it.

I agree that it makes a lot more sense for the ranger than the warlock, though. The warlock (at least as we've seen it) seems built around hiding behind the party and nuking. Prime Shot seems ideal for sniping (where you're shooting at enemies from an unexpected angle) and for close-up "ranged" combat (which the DDXP ranger is basically built for).
