One of my players who had been AFK for a bit turned up today and rolled up a Tempest Ranger from EN5sider. I was thinking the class may be OP or a little weak and I was not sure. He managed to roll an 18 and made a level 8 ranger with resilient, TWF feat and +2 dex.
The basic idea with the tempest Ranger is you are trading things like the hunter ability for an extra attack if 2 or more attacks hit. With 3 attacks a round he gets a 4th attack. In this situation the class worked magnificent. THe rest of the party was.
Level 8
Valor Bard
Lore Bard7/CLeric:Life1
Paladin: Oath of the Ancients
Favoured Soul: Tempest Domain
Warlock: Fiend pact/tomelock.
The Sorcerer is figuring out twinned haste rocks and cutting words, bard dice and bless enabled a lot of hits. There is something funny seeing a ranger make 5 attacks a round or 4 attacks a round with +1d6 damage via hunters mark TWF tends to be a bit underpowered compared to things like Polearm Master and GWF.
So basically this Ranger was a striker ranger from 4E dealing lots of damage to single targets. Overall a decent enough class and interesting variant on the Ranger.
