Day 1: Noon

The efficient Deos is able to procure the horses and wagon in under an hour, leaving around half a day's travel. A main road travels north toward Rivenblight with the turn off to Apple Glade about 25 miles from Orussus.

Fenwick and Kyle:
[SBLOCK]Fenwick knows of a small inn about 15 miles north of Orussus on the way to Apple Glade.
Kyle:
[SBLOCK]They serve an excellent roast duck and an exquisite, malty, dark beer.[/SBLOCK][/SBLOCK]

Assuming you leave right away (feel free to wait until morning):
The group sets off, their stomach's full of the Red Dragon's cooking for the last time ... at least for a few days. The wagon rumbles through the northern gates of Orussus, along with other travelers returning to the country after selling in the morning markets. The road is well traveled and other than the occasional hole, the wagon rides fairly smoothly.

You notice the guards at the gate paying a little more attention to each of you (especially Lupic) than the most the rest of the travelers, and you receive an occasional glance from other passers-by, probably wondering what a group of armed men is doing with a wagon full of ... other armed men.

OOC: Sorry for the delay. I belive we have lost Tinner. At this point, the group is Deos, Semabin, Lupic, Kyle and Fenwick. The speed of a wagon is 16 miles per day.
Today is Day 1 of the investigation. Day 13 will be the day Mr. Hessen is expected to deliver the ransom.
Any particular precautions, marching order? Who's riding in the wagon and who's on the horses?

Kyle sits squarely in the center of the wagon, passing the ride away studying recipies in an effort to obtain the spiritual awareness necessary to be a priest of the one true God, Geoth.

Lupic will try riding a horse. He's never done it before, but he's agile enough to get by I imagine. If nothing else he can simply terrorize the horse into complying.

Semabin will definitely ride a horse. Riding a wagon, where's the fun in that? Semabin will try to be as much in the front as possible. Not because he's particularly perceptive (which he isn't), but because it won't take so long to get to the action this way.

OOC: Sorry, I've been out sick for the last several days.

Deos takes up a position in the wagon, a grin on his face as they head out of Orussus. Always eager to learn more, Deos says to Kyle, "So Kyle, tell me more of Geoth."

"What more can I see about the Gourmet of Gluttony?" Kyle says to Deos, a wide smile playing across his face as he readies himself to launch into his favourite subject "Actually I can tell you... Kyle spends as long as Deos will let him providing a discourse on his God and what it means to be a follower of Geoth.

Traffic rapidly thins as the group travels further from Orussus. Every couple of miles a merchant caravan rolls passed headed for Orussus. After an afternoon of travelling without seeing much other than an occassional farmhouse, the sun begins to set. The group makes and breaks camp without incident.

By late the next morning, the adventurers spot an inn off the side of the road. Two young boys, seeing the towering form of Lupic and the easy grace and confidence exuded by Semabin, run out to the road to get a closer look. As you approach one yells, "Wow, where are you guys going?" The other replies, "Hunting orcs or bandits or hippogriffs, I bet."

An excellent smell of roast duck wafts out from the inn.

Deos listens avidly to Kyle, always eager to learn more. When the two young boys run out the next day, Deos responds to them, "Hail there lads! We're actually on our way to Apple Glade. We're going to stop here at this fine Inn briefly for refreshment. Tell me, do you know of Apple Glade? How distant is it? Have you any local gossip to be shared about it?"

"You say you see Orcs around here? They bad, where I find Orcs to smash?" Grunts out Lupic after hearing the kids idle chatter.
