I am sorry, but I just can't keep quiet anymore. In general a woman's breast is not the same size or larger than her head! This happens rarely in nature and when it does happen other body parts usually contain extra fatty tissue as well. A woman cannot effectively fight with size DD breasts, they get in the way

I guess I just got lucky with my Mrs. :)

Tough as nails and an enormous rack.

Suffice to say, my experience not only differs from yours, but I have very little interest in this obsession you seem to have over the idea of "non-realistic" elements in your fantasy.

You must be having an aneurysm over the concept of someone shooting a ball of fire, from their hand, simply by pronouncing some words:)

please no more porn style warrior chics (especially archers, can we say OUCH). I know most fantasy artists are male, and supposedly the main target audience is male, but come on, enough is enough.

Enough most certainly is not enough.

I want more traitional Frazetta-esque giant-boobed warrior women, not less. Artists! Sell to me!!!!

Thank you. I feel better now (at least until I see another one of those images).

Me too, except that I'll feel even better once I see another one of those images:)

gee, seems you had enough of an interest to strawman and insult a single post into an "obsession" then make a perposterous comparison to insult it further.

People with very little interest shut up and let folks have their rants. You are obviously quite interested in shutting down those with opinions that differ from yours.

(and if your wife has breasts the size of her head that stand up on their own and have not involved surgery, 'lucky' isn't the word I'd use... )

Of course he's as entitled to have an opinion as we are... And I think Teflon Billy just gave us his opinion on the subject...

I've never had the impression (esp on enworld) that opinions that boil down to "you personally suck" are as valid as those that boil down to "I am annoyed by this".

What's the preposterous comparison? Are you saying that women fighting with huge breasts is a more unlikley occurance than Conjuring a Fireball (or Evoking actually I guess)?

Or are you claiming that a desire for "realism" in a fantasy RPG shouldn't be held up to scrutiny across the whole of the RPG?

As for the strawman, he seemed pretty strident about his feelings on this subject. What do you think would be a better term than "Obsession"?

"Concern"?

"Passion"?

"Enthusiasm"?

Or can we just agree that unless you are picking apart my post for it's semantics, we can assume that--given the smileys and the lighthearted tone--that I don't think the poster has any real psychologically tested obsession disorders?

I suggest we go with that last one there.

People with very little interest shut up and let folks have their rants.

I have plenty of interest. I disagree with his statement. That's different from being uninterested.

Plus..."Shut up"? What are you a Mod?

You are obviously quite interested in shutting down those with opinions that differ from yours.

You're the one dropping orders to "Shut Up" like you had some kind of mandate to do so.

Clean up your own backyard before looking over the fence.

No, I am interested in making my opinions known on the subject, same as the original poster...if he wasn't looking for replies, then he should've writen in his diary; not on a, well, forum.

(and if your wife has breasts the size of her head that stand up on their own and have not involved surgery, 'lucky' isn't the word I'd use... )

And now you're slinging insults at my wife's anatomy...

I feel bad pointing out that you are engaging in the same behaviour you are complaining about you sad :):):):):)... I do, however, hope the irony isn't lost on you.

I believe you're right about that. I think there are rules against personal attacks, but the original poster stated in the headline that this was a rant, so I guess he/she ought to know that there would be a risk of getting a lot of different opinions on the matter. By the way, I didn't see anywhere that Teflon Billy said anything about the person "sucking"... Was I the only one who actually saw the smilies...?

EDIT: Oh, he pointed the irony out himself.

I don't object to any stereotyping of men in art forms primarily geared at women. Most women extend the same consideration to me. Of course, the people who don't extend this consideration are guilt-filled self-hating feminist men who idealize women in psychological/intellectual rather than physiological ways. This hipocrisy makes me write snotty responses like this.

If you don't like the art, buy different art. There are a lot of men, and some women who enjoy looking at physiologically idealized women. Showing a bunch of women in battle with medieval technology is already ahistorical and anthropologically dubious. It's not like an army of women in chain mail is realistic, no matter what size their chests are. So why not admit this is fantasy wish fulfilment regardless of the size of the women's chests?

The question is whether the wishes being fulfilled are those of aesthetically conventional men or those of women and self-loathing granola-eating men. As it stands, we aesthetically conventional men significantly outnumber women and our self-loathing brethren in this hobby.

I remember reading an article about this. A comic book author described it was more entertaining to draw large round objects or something like that.

I personally appreciate artists who don't paint _every_ female with huge boobs, not because of some kind of ideological reason but because really huge breasts are rarely sexy. I would prefer more cloth-wearning female wizards with smaller, fir... Well, I will stop here (Hi Grandma!) but I think you get my point.

And, according to Ancient Greek mythology, the Amazons found a way to deal with that very problem; namely, they cut 'em off. It's actually where the word "amazon" comes from; it simply means "breastless" (related to modern words like "mastectomy"). Strange but true.

Actually, according to dictionary.com

dictionary.com said:
Word History: In classical legend the Amazons were a tribe of warrior women. Their name is supposedly derived from Greek a-mazos, “without a breast,” because according to the legend they cut off their right breasts so as to be better able to shoot with a bow and arrow. This folk etymology, like most folk etymologies, is incorrect, but the Amazons of legend are not so completely different from the historical Amazons, who were also warriors. The historical Amazons were Scythians, an Iranian people renowned for their cavalry. The first Greeks to come into contact with the Iranians were the Ionians, who lived on the coast of Asia Minor and were constantly threatened by the Persians, the most important of the Iranian peoples. Amazn is the Ionian Greek form of the Iranian word ha-mazan, “fighting together.” The regular Greek form would be hamazn, but because the Ionians dropped their aitches like Cockneys, hamazn became amazn, the form taken into the other Greek dialects.

I thought this was a joke thread, then I realized it still was.

Are you serious? you want smaller boobs on your warrior woman art? Why? When do realism and fantasy art mix?

How about we force all the folks to do a realistic midevil warrior woman.

She's 5'10" about 230 lbs. She's hairy, smells bad, has really crappy teeth, and no this is not a half orc. She looks much like a man, which is just fine with her, because she prefers to be thought of as one of the boys.

It's ok to draw a supermodel face, on a supermodel body, but insert some non-supermodel boobs on, and suddenly it's not cool?

BWAAA HAAAA HAAAAAA.

I vote we force them to draw only ugly women from now on... for the children folks... for the children.
