Rant: WotC can't design their spells "right"

Interestingly, the 9th level spell iceberg in Frostburn - it drops a large iceberg on the heads of your enemies - is an Evocation, not a Conjuration.

Iceberg
Long range; Spell Resistance; No save (reflex half for those in area); No attack roll; 20d6 damage

Cheers!
Interestingly, CD has the Clr6/Drd6 cometfall spell, which is Conjuration (Creation) and allows you to drop a comet on a 10 ft square area, doing 2d6 dmg per 10 ft fallen (max:20d6). No SR and allows a Ref save for half.

Nice spell, and IMO, it's much cooler (non-temperaturewise, of course ;)) to hit someone with a comet than an iceberg :D

Just think how much more fun it would be to hit them with both!

If the Evoker uses another spell from Complete Arcane, Assay Resistance, to bypass spell resistance then the new damage-dealing conjurations become less attractive.

I think WotC want to reduce the effect of spell resistance across the board rather than give evokers the shaft.

It a cool spell concept but they broke there own damage caps again. This is an area of effect spell that does up to 20d6 1 level before an arcane caster could and 2 levels before a divine caster. It is limited by height so indoors its not effective and its a small area, but it still breaks the rules.

They should either change the spells that break the rules or if it is not broken for a cleric/drd to do 20d6 at 6th level and a druid to do 15d6 at 4th level change the damage caps. Let fireballs do 15d6 at 3rd and cone of cold do 20d6 for 5th etc.
