Rapan Athuk hints, anyone?

The Allamistako

First Post
My loving pit fiend... auauauauauauua... my beloved Girlfriend is planing on running Rapan Athuk - the dungeon of Graves at the next local con, and I was asked (well, ordered...) to ask about if anyone has any hints and recomendations on running this thing, especially for a D&D rookie DM. Any helpful notes, guys, or do I have to sleep on the couch until the con is over?

When you're players meet the solitary ghast on the first level, try running him as having a british accent and being stuffy and formal. My players loved that one. We still talk about him. :D

I wasn't trying to. If you're British and I insulted you, I totally apologize.

That said, there's no real hints I can offer, since Rappan Athuk killed my players before they even got to the middle levels.

Hehe

Murray, "Expect the unexpected from those players." That's the best tip i can give to your Fiend... (why Pit fiend - that would be my fiend then, right?! ;) )

As in this recent Dork Tower issue "We play Lord of the rings!" "All right, i kill Gandalf!"...hehe

All I can say is that there is no way I can see the whole module played out in the time constraint of a Con. Have you looked at all three parts? It's well over 100 pages, with levels galore. For the party to have a chance of survival it will have to level up to about 18th, and you are supposed to start under 10th.

Honestly, my advice would be to pick a different module. I like the module, but it is HUGE.

My own personal recommendation, DO NOT stick your head in the latrine. You will regret it. :) Oh and watch out for Purple Worms. :)
