Rappan Athuk: Reloaded SOLD OUT by wide margin!!

Books should still be available through any store that can order through Alliance. Can't guarantee how many though.
I checked my FLGS, he ordered this through 2 suppliers, one of which was Alliance.
I'll be paying full price, but I like my odds.

One thing that I hope comes out of this is in this case we have seen traditional FLGSs having the advantage over behemoths like Amazon in terms of being able to get this product. Here we see the small focused game shops being able to acquire a cool niche-product that gamers want, which simply goes unnoticed by mass-market sales outlets. It's great to see this with all the news lately about how traditional FLGS are having such a tough time competing nowadays.

I bought mine from WW the nanosecond I heard about it. Then yesterday, I thought that maybe I'd buy a second because I wanted to keep my signed/numbered one shrink-wrapped. All sold out at WW. Bummer!

So... I went to FRPGames.com and pre-ordered it for $59.99.

It's really easy (if you live in the US). And I think FRP ships to Canada too.

Well, the fact that Alliance wanted more than they had available is a good start. Plus people e-mailing in will help if it indicates several hundred people are interested.

Judging by the numbers Bill gave, and that I posted earlier in this thread, the drawback for us is that they will probably only want to do it if they think another print run of 1,000 will sell again. If that is the case, then I fear the chances of a second print run are highly unlikely.
I will happy to be wrong, though.

Well, I just ordered on FRPGames, and have my fingers crossed. Living abroad, online is the only place I can get this baby. If it fails, I'll go with the PDF (though I'll also lobby for a reprint as Treebore suggested). That combined with my hard copy original 3.0 versions would also be satisfying.

Overall it's great news to hear that this product has sold reasobably well--though it's a bit sobering to consider 1000 copies a 'success'. You cannot blame Necro/White Wolf for being conservative--it appears both parties are very aware of the realistic market situation and made decisions based on that.

How about asking Amazon if they want to buy 1000 copies at 45% of $75?

Btw. a 100 copies will get sold at full retail at Gen Con ($4000 of profit), plus all the copies that get sold through the WW website at full profit... So i think this is quite profitable for WW and Necro.

Sorry

but we had to limit this. Its a limited edition folks. At a $32 cost per unit, we make virtually nothing on wholesale orders. Really Clark and I could not care less as long as we break even. Expensive book? yes. Amazon orders? Screw them...I support FLGS. Buy local. Amazon and other discount retailers are killing the local guys..ever play a game at an Amazon store? After WL Box set, I figured we could reasonably sell 1800 copies, but then we have to account for returns. I pay my artists, cartographers, and layout guys first (not everyone does). Then we take whatever is left (usually not much). The risk was huge at 1800 units, so we decided on 1000. I will not ever de-value the 1000 (ok, 960...I comped or kept 40) folks who bought a limited ed copy win. Thats all there is...I said LE, I meant it.

hate me, love me...thats the way I feel

Bill
