Rappan Athuk: Reloaded SOLD OUT by wide margin!!

And when you take into account the risk, that's a crazy investment.

Yes, well, it isn't an investment if you're doing it as a hobby. As an investment, it is pretty dumb. As hobby-spending, it is only excessive :)

I feel that people should study these numbers a bit before complaining about game publishers:
I think only one person complained about the price of the product in this entire thread.

Folks, there really, honestly should be "unclaimed" copies available through regular game stores. I don't know which stores, but they will be out there.
This is definitely reassuring. Woo!

I guess the screaming announcement title was just poorly worded.

Somewhat. I was using Bill's wording from the Necromancer board announcement of the sell out.

Patrick,

It is where I got the "by wide margin" wording from.

It is also why I mentioned that Alliance has copies in the OP, so people who still haven't gotten it, but want it, know they still have a shot at getting it, but still chancy. Getting copies anywhere other than the 100 at GenCon is going to be risky. Hopefully not for those who pre-ordered through their LGS, but definitely a risk for anyone who is now scrambling for a copy.

Heck, even GenCon is going to be risky. Better run when those doors open straight to the Necromancer booth.

People who don't get it really need to let WW know there is an unfilled demand for more copies. That is the only way to get a second printing to happen.

Well, this doesn't change anything for me. I'm still planning to charge to the White Wolf booth as soon as the doors open Thursday morning and purchase RA:R immediately.

I think that is a good plan.

If I remembered who you were without having to look back I would of said, "I think Alzrius' plan of running for the Necro booth as soon as the doors open is a solid and very wise plan."

But my memory doesn't remember nearly as many details as it used to.

The numbers I cited don't speak simply to the price charged. They demonstrate how vulnerable the publishers are to any overestimate of demand -- and such demand forecasts are always wrong.

When I saw this product announced, I thought it was a must-have, even at $75. Heck, the WLD was $100, and I'm guessing RAR will be much much better.

When I saw this product was a limited run with only 1000 copies, each numbered and signed, I knew it was selling out. The only way to be certain to get it was to order it directly from the manufacturer as soon as possible. Anything else would be a crapshoot.

Trying to get it from Amazon at 1/2 or 1/3rd price is obviously a gamble. I have had nothing but bad experiences with Amazon, and I can't see how anyone could honestly think they would be getting a limited edition, signed and numbered boxed set like this at $25. Amazon is notorius for dropping pre-orders of RPG stuff, so it would be foolish in the extreme to think this product at that price was even remotely possible.

Congratulations to Necro for selling out an adventure at a time that the naysayers are claiming that "adventures don't sell" and "the d20 market is dying". Proof that a quality product done by professionals that care about what they are producing can sell out

Treebore,
After speaking with Bill this afternoon, it does look like Alliance wanted more copies than we had available. This would indicate a higher demand than we anticipated (always a good thing).

Books should still be available through any store that can order through Alliance. Can't guarantee how many though.

Patrick

Two,

Yeah I just wonder if people would have expected the same thing if it was a limited edition print run of say Ravenloft or Dragonlance in a box set and signed format. Amazon is just screwy. :p :)
