Rarely used rules

Are you joking?

We refocus ALOT. ALOT ALOT.

Espescially that last guy. I mean, why wouldn't he?

And sometimes, someone who's really wanting to delay or hold, but doesn't want to delay or hold. It is cooler just to refocus...

Things that don't get used:

Refocus (never figured out why someone would do that)
Parry
Sunder (even though one of my player has a sword that gives bonuses to sundering attacks if the wielder has the feat)
Encumberance
Bluff/Feint in combat
Trip
Mundane consumable ammunition
Saving throws for carried objects (most of the time)

Things mentioned here that do:
Counterspelling (alot actually)
Grapple
Bull Rush
Rules for cover
Magic Item Creation
Fighting on the Defensive / Total Defensive
Delaying / Readying actions

[edit: slightly off topic, I know]

I for one cannot see why people would stay away from Bull Rush. I remember a fight where my players were attacked by spiders from below a hole in a dungeon floor. From the side came Ettercaps and they immediately started bull rushing the players down into the hole (to the characters obvious dismay :)).

My players soon realized that the spiders down there would pretty much attack anything (or, well, so they hoped - and since the battle wasn't exactly going in their favor a little handy ruling made sure that they did) and started pushing the Ettercaps down. I quickly evolved into a memorable fight, where everyone was trying to push everyone down into a tight hole :) Ahh .... the fun....

Since then Bull ush has just been used more, especially since my players sometime go for the "cool" approach rather than the munchkin. Hardly anyone can say "bull rush" now without someone jumping "Hoooooo ... remember that one time?"

Another neglected option is "ready an action against a charge." Have you ever seen anyone use it? Ready action, sure, but I have yet to see a spear weilding opponent or player use this. It's just me, isn't it?

Yep, yesterday, twice by the player with a long spear, in a Living Greyhawk game. Worked well, too.

Refocus, anyone?
Yeah! Lets waste a round so we can go first next round... wait a second... what the hell's the point in that?!
Refocus is so rarely used I almost forgot about it compleatly, its like the d-Pad on my N64 controllers...

I also saw this yesterday. Players were waiting for the undead to get to them, and set up a line. Fighter in the front with his sword refocused when he knew the undead couldn't get to him before his next go, and he didn't want to leave the line to go to them).

In this case, it was that he would have wasted a go, and instead used it to refocus.

I try to make use of most of the maneuvers as a DM and player, just to keep things fresh and engaging. In a relatively recent game, a strong human female fighter with a heavy flail and Improved Trip caused a lot of grief for the party.

I also had a character ambush the party once with a group of Night Masks. The character in question was a sorcereress/cleric of Beshaba named Disappointing Diana. She specialized in counterspelling. The party sorcerer was pretty angry when four of his five spells were countered in the first few rounds of combat.

Bull Rush just hasn't been a factor at all. I think one time, someone tried it on a bridge encounter with orcs, and it didn't work. At that point, another player pointed out that it would've been far better if he had just swung at the orc with his sword, and since then, Bull Rush has been unused and unwelcome. [/B]

I have a player with a TOwer Shield so the monsters Bull Rush him alot to get him into an open space. Once a hobgoblin actually knocked this PC into a bonfire. That hurt at 1st level!
