I'm giving it a 10 as it is an awesome adventure and still stands apart as being a unique adventure for PCs and DMs.

Hopefully, I'll be running it with my Epic party as it seems that ToH (and RttToH) is an excellent challenge worthy of their level. That being said, someone on here once mentioned that, if played right, a 1st level character could do it all, save destroying Acererak. Likewise, and epic level character is by no means guaranteed success in this enterprise.

For the naysayers out there, yes it is a big, huge death trap. However, it is not undefeatable and any PCs who can make it thru are awesome gamers. (Not that you couldn't be awesome w/o beating it, but beating it definately elevates your level of play.)

Specifically as-written, I could only give it a 4.

However, as a module that can be quickly and easily updated to 3e, I give it an 8 or 9. It is a blast when a few modifications are made.

For those whining about the difficulty of the module, let's remember that it's The Tomb of HORRORS,' not 'The tomb of fluffy bunnies.'

I categorically disagree.

People who make it through aren't special in any way, they're lucky. That doesn't say a single thing about the players, other than their willingness to put up with arbitrary death traps that they'd have no way of avoiding, other than dumb luck. (And in a few cases, you're dead even then.)

Awesome gamers can make it through puzzles and tricky situations. Being able to walk blindfolded through a minefield alive isn't about solving puzzles or tricky situations, though.

It's as difficult as a game of Russian roulette with five our of six chambers filled with bullets.

There's no difficulty or skill involved. I would be interested to see how many of the people rating it highly have actually played and/or DMed it. I did back in the day, both ways, and really, it's an arbitrary death trap. ("Sleep gas fills the room. All characters fall unconscious. A wheeled juggernaut rolls out from behind a secret door and crushes them all to death.")

I ran it as is back in 2001 and the party of 5 had just one death, everyone else made it through and had a lot of fun with it.

I gave it a ten!! I'm sorry, but the TOMB OF HORRORS is a "No Whining" zone. You are in the tomb of a lich! It does not want you there and doesn't want you waltzing in to destroy him or grab his belongings.

Our group lost quite a few PCs in that one. Nothing like death to keep you on you're toes. If you're not prepared to die, this adventure is not for you! If adventures were easy with no threat of dying, what fun would that be!!

Remember, NO WHINING!!

Oh yes very nice. Some don't like it so they are 'whiners'? What is this a Ptolus thread?
