I think a lot of people are caught up in the nostalgia of the first two movies. If this movie had been released, without prior movies and taken for what it was, it would be the next :insert lame comic book movie:
 

Meh. Not terrible, but way too much was stuffed into the movie. Gave it a 5; had enough good action scenes to keep it as average as opposed to 3 or 4 it'd be on plot alone.
 

Well ... I also gave it a 7.

I thought the story was rushed and they tried to put too much in. Or perhaps it was just poorly edited? :\

And oddly enough my favorite character in the movie was Sandman ... even though he was kind of a non sequiteur in context of the whole movie, I think.

In general regarding the Spidey movies, I liked #2 the best of the three. Number 1 ... well, I just could NOT get past the power ranger outfit on the green goblin.

By the way, for me the best superhero movie I've ever seen was Batman Begins.
