  • Two stars. There are better options, but take it at a discount or free.

  • One star. Waste of money. Give it away and get something else.

My box has held up pretty well, although most times I travel with it the whole thing is tucked inside a backpack.

If you are going to schlep it around on a regular basis, I'd look for something more substantive. As a place to keep them together and relatively safe with some occasional travel, it's good enough.

We rate them as "AWESOME" in our group!! They're easy to use.

The only thing I dislike is that what you put on there is a little *too* easy to remove. Especially when you want to do that map beforehand and can't stack it or touch it or it'll come off. Other than that, they're excellent.

Also high in the kudos dept. is the spell radius templates from Steel Sqwire! They make choosing your area of effect much easier than counting tiles and hoping you get it right.

For that reason, I also have a couple Steel Sqwire Flip Mats. The Flip Mat was nominated for an ENnie, and it deserved it. It's a lightweight, dry or wet erase, foldable grid. I use it when I'm running a game at a friend's place or at a con, any situation where carrying weight is an issue.

I have the flip map also. It's easy to port around since it folds into an 8 1/2 x 11 sized sheet it goes right into my backpack with no problem. I was thinking about the tact-tiles for my new group, but I'll use my flip mat in the meantime...

I'm a Tact-tiles fan, and I also like the alternating thick and thin lines. Makes it easier to adapt to the variance of map scales, with some using 5x5 and others using 10x10 to a square. I do like the above suggestion of making them transparent, though. That would be great.

I use a set of these and the only problems I have with them are that the box they come in is beginning to tear apart and that they are kinda heavy to carry around. Otherwise, they work great.

Hands down one of the best gaming investments I've ever made. I cannot stress how much I love the ability to just add on tiles and shift the map around without having to redraw anything.

QFT. These things are so dang convenient. I bought several sets so that I always have enough for whatever I want to do. I can draw an entire cave system or castle floor plan on them, and just plop tiles down on the table to simulate new areas becoming visible to the party as they move around. I tried all sorts of other methods before I got them, but they're so much better than my battle mat, or the large gridded tablet or the plexiglass that I can't imagine doing without them.

If I had to evacuate, they'd be on the short list of gaming supplies that would go in the car with us. (Yes, I know I'm a complete freak. Shut up.)
