You have heard of a ruined keep, not too far from town, which is rumored to contain treasure. Some also speak of a spirit, which has oracular powers that makes it home under the keep. You have decided that this place will be an excellent chance for adventure. Do you wish to prepare for the adventure? Perhaps you would like to recruit some hirelings or purchase some extra supplies? Or do you wish to set out immediately?

Looking up at Ulgen the scarred halfling nods to his comments, "I think we are able to handle anything that comes are way." He flips one of his knives and guides it into it's sheath as it starts to fall.

Grabbing the pack at his feet he says, "Besides less to split what we find with."

"At dis rate I'll never be able to finish ma book" Ulgen says with a small chuckles to himself. "You got a point there Scarven, alright so we'll hit dis hard and fast and be back by dinner, if you want I will get us some fine cuts o' meat and i'll cook you up somtin' nice afterwards." Ulgen says as puts on his green lensed goggles.

Actually hirelings would work for a flat rate per day. But since that seems to be a secondary factor in you're decision, I'll move things along.

You travel to the keep. It is across a stream, which is spanned by a stone bridge.

"Here now, let's fill these skins just in case." Scarven says heading to the creek a few yards from the bridge.

When you go down to the stream you see creatures swimming in it. They don't quite look like fish, more like tadpoles the size of trout.

"Well this may not taste to good but at least it will be wet." the halfling says going to his belly and leaning over the bank to fill his skin.

"Ah Scaven, you might not want to drink dat water. Just let me tink for a bit to see if i can remeber sometin about des tadpolls" Ulgen says as he crouches down to the water to look at them.

[sblock=OOC] Ok we are beta testing this right? If so I have a critic. To find out how I make a skill check I had to:
1) Look up the skill I wanted to use, no rule there.
2) Go Skill Section and look at what skill sare and how they work. Nothing there.
3) Go to the front of the book and look up Skill checks. Nope nada.
4) Go to the core mechanic and read that. Presto!!

Seems to me if you wanted you could list the mechanic again other places like the first couple paragraphs of the Skill secton. Or a how skills work sidebar, with examples.

Stealth check = 11 hmm not good, lucky artillery is an intelligence based weapon and orcs are dumb LOL [/sblock]

The catapult is obviously pretty damaged, and there aren't any orcs nearby. If you had to guess, it was probably used in the war, about one hundred years ago.

So, do you wish to enter the keep or perhaps do something else?
