You can too :P

Where did you get that from?

If you want to disengage you can take a double move without provoking an AOO (described under double move in the combat section of the PHB)

Combat Reflexes

Benefit: When foes leave themselves open, the character may make a number of additional attacks of opportunity equal to the character's Dexterity modifier. The character still may only make one attack of opportunity per enemy.
The character may also make attacks of opportunity while flat-footed.

Normal: A character can only make one attack of opportunity in a round. A character may not make attacks of opportunity while flat-footed.

A double-move might not help in this case, since when you double move, you do not provoke an AoO for leaving the square you start in. if you are adjacent to a character with reach > 5ft, and you double-move away, when you pass from 5ft to 10ft, you do not provoke, since it is the first threatened square you left, but you do provoke when you pass from 10ft to 15ft, barring things like Tumble.

Yup... 'swhy ogres get in your face, instead of standing back at 10' and bashing away with their greatclub.

If they're toe-to-toe, you can't run away without taking an AoO, and you can't 5' step back and use those annoying little elf-sticks.
