While I don't want to think about what dubbing will do to it, I'd highly recommend this series.

I caught it two years ago at Gencon, then picked up the eps as quickly as I could. Great fun. It's amazing what someone can do with control over paper.;)

This series is also running on G4TechTV at midnight on their Anime Unleashed block, which is really strange as I don't think that G4 and Cartoon Network are in any way connected. I believe Turner owns CN, and G4TechTV is the result of two independent, afaik, networks merging (G4 bought out TechTV for access to its wider availablity).

I've never heard of two networks airing the same licensed series before.

Or is this a case like, say, Astro Boy, with a classic series and an updated one?

BTW, according to Direct TV, RoD is airing at midnight on Cartoon Network, not 11 pm (EST).

There are actually two seperate Read or Die series. One is an OAV video release made up of (I think) 3 episodes. That's the one CN has. The other is a full length television series and it shows on G4TechTV.

I don't know enough about the two to tell you what the differences are other than that.

The bit that I know about the TV series suggests it's pretty different from the OVA series. The TV series doesn't, that I know of, feature any characters from the OVA. The closest are the two protagonists who are related to Yomiko, and have similar (if not exactly the same) powers.

Incidentally, it was a pity that the OVA didn't have more elements from the manga, since that seemed more interesting.

That's where I saw it too, though I didn't buy the series. Another great service done for us by the wonderful guys over at Hades Pro. They're one of the best parts of GenCon!

STICKERS!!! ;)

The TV series is based primarily around a younger friend of Yomiko's who was apparently featured far more in the manga than the OAVs. As of the TV series, she's grown up and is now looking for Yomiko, who is MIA for some reason. The other major characters are three sisters with more specialized variants of Yomiko's paper powers. How they are related to Yomiko I don't know, as I only saw episodes 1-4 so far.

I remembered seeing the term read or die recently, but I was thinking maybe I got confused with vote or die or some crap similar to it. I'd have to say it didn't matter.

The Cartoon Network just finished airing a two hour movie, midnight to 2 AM on the west coast. It started as interesting, but the movie was an hour too long in my opinion. Gee, let's make the American President wet his pants every time he's on scene. That probably wouldn't have phased me if not for the no good reason Deep Bosom betrayal and lame...oh nevermind. I'm gonna go burn some books.
