Dragonlance Reading Soulforge and uh, I have questions

Describing a girl as a full-figured at 13 is weird but so absurd that it veers into hilarious territory. I could never imagine writing something like that myself. People fascinate me.

Well I remember 7th grade (vaguely but I remember it) and I do remember one girl I thought wat "full-figured" ..... of course that is to my 13 year old understanding of that.

Kitiara is always a bit of a black mark on the Dragonlance Saga.

I think she is an offical legal adult by 20/21 st century standards by the time she meets Tanis Half-elven and they become a couple.....

But you still get the black mark that she was "running around" with adult men when she was a young teen. And well...maybe she kept a calendar in her pocket so she would know the day she turned 18 and could legally be with those guys........or maybe not

If some detail was wrong for the current standars, then it will be automatically rewritten and retconnected in future editions. Let's guess that type of things happen within the necessary boundaries.

But your PC can't date that elf because she is only 49 years old. If you want you can date that bugbear. She seems a teenage, but she was 54y before die and reincarnated. With that Wechselkind it would be totally legal, because she is older than your grandmma, but the public opinion wouldn't approve it.

I hadn't ever really paid attention, but even back in DL5 they mentioned her being young when she set off.

At about the time Tanis arrived in Solace, a thirteen year old girl was leaving Solace to find adventure on her own. This remarkable teenager was named Kitiara.
...
The warrior trained his daughter in the military arts. At the age of seven, she saw her first battle. Her father cut her black hair and introduced her as his son. Kitiaras skill, even at this early age, won praise from the the older warriors.

Later on, it mentions she came back two months later from war

I mean it's not impossible, but it sure is unlikely. That age is from around my 7th grade days, and while I remember being a latchkey kid on my own back in the '80s at that age, I can't imagine toddling off to war - and surviving it.
Right. Like people mentioned up-thread, kids could be squires pretty young, but the idea that at seven years old she'd be winning praise for her skill in medieval tech battle is just silly.

Midshipmen in the Royal Navy, during the Napoleonic period, could functionally serve in battle and lead gun crews at the age of 12 or 13, but that'd be acting as junior officers over full grown men actually loading and firing the guns, and it would be after a few years of learning from the adult officers.
