Thank you very much, everyone--particularly Echohawk, for his ridiculous bestiary chart. It looks like my initial impressions were correct:

• The Behir really hasn't ever mattered, but hasn't really ever changed either.
• The Barghest is damn cool, has evolved slightly over time, and was focking butchered for the otherwise exemplary 4e Monster Manual 2.

Hmmmm, I'm not sure how your impressions got formed, Inyssius, but I didn't get the vibe that anyone felt the behir was irrelevant---it is the Erol Otus front-cover monster in S4, and one of the cooler encounters in the adventure

Ah, I haven't seen the post-3.5 versions of either.
