Recalled RPG products?

. . .your word will always be good enough for me, jdrakeh. :)

I guess I should have been a bit more clear. I don't really care if it is or isn't. I'm not saying that you should take me at my word, because I might be wrong (I don't believe that I am but I conceed that I might be).

I'm just saying that there's no need for me to answer the inevitable calls of "Prove it!" because I don't actually know the people issuing those calls and, as such, fulfilling their demands isn't too high a priority on my 'to do' list.

I'm a forum poster, not a D&D god. My continued existence does not depend on the belief of others ;)

Wasn't a large portion of the original Deities & Demigods book printing recalled due to trademark infringement?
No, never recalled. In fact, it seems there wasn't any copyright infringement, just concerns about that. In fact, Greg Stafford recently stated that TSR and Chaosium came to an agreement to allow them to use Elric and Cthulhu in the book in exchange for being able to use AD&D stats in the Thieves World products. He was surprised when they took them out of the next edition anyway.

Retailers were not required to return those books despite claims made by certain parties.
I'm not sure that you can require that. Effectively they are buying the books. If I buy a book can they require me to return it? No.

Some company like WotC can get it done if they wish. They just need to say if you don't return a product then we won't sell you anything else. Those companies that deal with WotC directly (or want to) have a strong incentive to follow through on the recall.

The solo adventure for GURPS Horseclans (Bili the Axe: Up Harzburk!) was recalled by SJ Games because the numbered entries were all screwed up.
Is this hard-to-find? Did they ever issue errata or a corrected edition?

At least one of those stores did deal with WotC directly (I'm not sure about the other). Regardless, no pressure was applied by WotC to retailers or wholesalers and, had the recall been forced as some parties claimed, I'm certain that they would have flexed every possible muscle to ensure compliance.

I think Fast Forward actually destroyed those books because WOTC told them to. They screwed up royally, using IP stuff from the core books (gods most notably), even though many people had warned them about it.

When the event occured I paid very close attention to FFE and their antics. What happened was that they issued a press release, carefully worded to imply that WotC had forced them to recall and destroy products.

Careful reading revealed that they never stated that to be the case, and when called on it on their boards, someone from FFE admitted that the decision to destroy product in stock was made by FFE.

Now follows some speculation.

In all probability FFE had little actual stock left, so they made a big stink about it, without actually losing much of value, neither in actual stock of products, nor products that would actually be bought, since their quality problems are the stuff of legend.

Why they made such a fuss about it is beyond me. Maybe to get back at WotC for being WotC or something. And WotC owning IP that JIm Ward had created could enter into the picture when it comes to motive.

Wings of the Valkyrie - A Champions adventure that was recalled after it was released. The plot dealt with the heroes going back in time and stopping other time travelers from killing Hitler because of issues with the history changes.

(I actually had a copy of this because my FLGS owner pointed out that it had been recalled and if I wanted a copy I better get it.)
Is it good? The plot sounds fairly reasonable since IIUC Adolf make many mistakes that drasticly impacted the 3rd reich.
