Recommend a Good 1st Level Game?

Yeah, about that Con damage trap early in "Gorgoldand's Gauntlet" - I was asked to write a puzzle/trap-laden adventure, right at the cusp of the start of 3E, when the three main books weren't even available for purchase yet. I had the draft versions of the three books (I was part of the group that had signed NDAs), but they weren't all that complete, and the magic item in question wasn't a part of them. I was told not to worry, just to write it as if it were 2E, and they'd help with the conversion to 3E.

So, when I wrote "Gorgoldand's Gauntlet," I had no idea just how dangerous they had made
dust of sneezing and choking
for 3E. Had I known, I would have come up with a weaker version that didn't have as much of an impact.

Likewise, one of the reasons I used
jermlaine
in the adventure is because they were originally going to be one of the monsters in the Monster Manual, but of course we now know that they didn't make their 3E appearance until much later. Not that I think I would have used some other creature had I known; they seemed perfect for the role I gave them in the Gauntlet.

But for now, if you want to run the Gauntlet as written, you might consider cutting the Con damage of that initial trap in half or something.

I'd recommend GAZ-1 : Grand Duchy of Karameikos (you can find it as a screen capture-PDF on RPGnow at least).

It should give you all the infomation and inpiration you need for 1st level and above adventures.
