Recommend a lengthy d20 product?

Is this the Shades of Gray campaign? http://enworld.rpgnow.com/product_info.php?products_id=12541&

The review seems like it's a Cthulhu modern day module and I can't find it on Necromancers site.

That is Shades of Gray.

The reviews linked to on RPGnet are, however, not for Necromancer's Shades of Gray.

Here's a product page:
http://www.kenzerco.com/product_info.php?products_id=425&osCsid=0f97c6254279cb279dfc8e1f87f284a7
(It's published through Kenzer so appears on the kenzer page, though there is a link on the necro front page and you will find a SoG forum on the necro boards.)

Ehoslinger-if you have any questions on Shades, I would be happy to answer them as the author of it. YOu can also read more for it here:
http://p208.ezboard.com/fnecromancergamesfrm88

it's the forum dedicated to it on the Necromancer boards. Sparky's campaign journal can give you a good sense of the early adventures there as well.

*is glad to see people cheering for RA* Yes! The MOTHER of all dungeon Crawls. While it's not that good for 4th level PCs (not that healthy for 5th either) the out door environs can be used to help "bump up" the PCs to an appropriate survivability level.

*also recommends Shades of Grey*

PSION!!!! I've missed you!!!! You are da man!!!

Michael,

When will The Eamonvale Incursion hit the stores? I cannot wait to buy a copy!!! <slobber>

Oh yeah, I'd also give Ptolus or Shades of Grey my highest recommendation.

I played through a good deal of Shackled City before giving up. Parts of it are brilliant, but there are scads of meh in between the good bits. It can also be very repetitive and frustrating ... in a not so good way. It takes like a year of actual play to really find out what's going on, for all the threads and hints at the main arc to pay off.

Dragon,

I'm not Mike, but I imagine it will be a while. I say that only because I think Mike's sleeping.

You are sleeping right Mike?

I think Age of Worms plays better than SC. I liked SC, but like you said Dragon, there were parts that were meh.

I'm awake. Eamonvale is Nate Paul's baby, and last I talked to him he was hoping it would be out for Gen Con so he can promote it at the Kenzer booth. I played through a small bit of it with Nate at Gen Con last year and I am definitely looking forward to it as well. Grey Citadel is an awesome adventure and mini campaign setting, and Eamonvale expands on that. Look for more on Eamonvale at Nate's Dark Loch site too.

If you are looking for a lengthy dungeon crawl to lead into Rappan Athuk, you can check out Tomb of Abysthor as well, but you may have to ge the PDF of that one as it is out of print and sometimes hard to find. Well worth the search though.

If you are looking more mainstream (i.e.not 3rd party) and your characters are 4th level, Red Hand of Doom from WotC is well worth the look as well. THough with a little tweaking of the first few adventures (or an alternate hook to replace the low level stuff) Shades can be used for a group of 4th level characters and take them to somewhere between 12th and 1th level when all is said and done (shameless plug mode off now).

Mike,

I'm dissappointed in you. Offering Red Hand....man who wants to fight a bunch of hobbys and half dragons when they can fight plagues, unending evils and other stuff in Tomb or Shades of Grey!

(btw sorry I thought you were sleeping! Glad you're not.)

Don't get me wrong Nightfall, I love me some Necro stuff ;) However, a friend of mine is running us through Red Hand currently and I am having a blast. Though part of it is being on the other side of the screen for a change I think. I think WotC has been hit or miss on the supplements and adventures over the years, but for me Red Hand is definitely one of the hits.
As for Shades, I never get tired of running it ( I have run 2 groups through the entirety of this incarnation* of it, plus probably a dozen sessions at Cons, Game Days, signings, etc. over the past few years and have a blast every time). Still variety is the spice of gaming life.

*Shades had its origins ina campaign I ran back in the late 1E early 2E days, but was heavily changed when I wrote this incarnation for Necro.

Mike,

No I understand you think it's a hit. Me, I don't think so. Up until Expedition to Castle Ravenloft and now Expedition to the Demonweb Pits, I wasn't that enamored with the WotC adventure offerings.

To me if it's not up to the same standards as Dungeon, Necromancer, Green Ronin, or Goodman games, I'm not that interested.

That is a cool side note though Mike. :)

Aha! I conflated Shades of Grey and Grey Citadel in my muddled little mind. Long day.

I haven't actually looked at Shades of Grey but am planning on picking it up based on the good things I've heard and read!

I was attempting to recommend Grey Citadel. I apparently can't spell recommend tonight either. Oh well, off to bed for me <runs away>.
