Recommend a Romantic Movie

And the best is "Joe Versus the Volcano". Its one of my favorite films. Its a swimmingly loony love letter to its characters, the movies, and the human race.

Really. Its a terrific film.
I too am fascinated by that one. It's funny, it's existential, it's inspiring, it's got a great soundtrack, it's got Meg Ryan, Meg Ryan, and Meg Ryan... It's just too unique to really pigeonhole into a single, convenient category.

Notting Hill: Looking to avoid the press, Anna Scott (Julia Roberts), the world's most famous actress ducks into William Thacker's (Hugh Grant) book shop. Sparks fly but eventually she leaves. He can't believe his luck until he runs into her again, this time litterally, and spills his orange juice all over her. He offers his place to change and she rewards him with a kiss that surprises both of them. Can thier love survive her fame and his non-discript life? (Awsome supporting cast in this film, btw)

Somewhere in Time: (glommed from IMDB) Young writer Richard Collier (Christopher Reeve) is met on the opening night of his first play by an old lady who begs him to "Come back to me". Mystified, he tries to find out about her, and learns that she is a famous stage actress from the early 1900s, Elise McKenna (Jane Seymour). Becoming more and more obsessed with her, he manages, by self hypnosis, to travel back in time where he meets her. They fall in love, a matching that is not appreciated by her manager (Christopher Plummer). Can their love outlast the immense problems caused by their "time" difference? And can Richard remain in a time that is not his?

Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon.

They are deeply in love, but their sense of honour prevents them saying so to each other, although each of them want to.

[sblock]several achingly tense scenes where they want to express their love for each other, but since she was once engaged to his best friend (who died), he doesn't feel that he has the right to express his own feelings to her.

At the end he is fatally poisoned and while dying of the poison tells her how much he loves her.

Theirs was a pure and noble love that just wasn't going to be.

Great suggestions everyone!

Anyone recommend Tristan and Isolde? It came out earlier this year.
I saw it. Very well done. Definitely fits in with the whole star-crossed lovers concept.
