Recommend TV Recorder Software

I have an old Hauppage TV Tuner card and wanted to install it to turn my computer into a PVR. I want to be able to record shows to my computer, so that I can watch them at my leisure, similar to a TiVo.

Any suggestions on what software to use?

Depends on your technological expertise. MythTV is generally regarded as the best for homebrew PVR, but it's Linux based and not always the easiest thing to set up. A very powerful and flexible setup, though. It's also pretty capable even with older hardware.

ReplayTV has switched from a hardware PVR to selling PVR software for the PC. I've not had a chance to test it, but I've had one of their hardware units for a few years and love it -- much better than my parent's TiVo IMO. If their software product is as good as the hardware it might be worth looking into.

You could also try and get a copy of Windows Media Center edition.

Unfortunately, I don't think any of the current PVR software will work with my Hauppauge card.

I just realized how old my TV Tuner card is. It's OLD, as in from 1998. :P
