I used to record my gaming sessions so I could put them out as story hours. As an aside, do this and you WILL learn to write great dialogue. However, I was informed by a legal professional that it is illegal to record conversations in the state of Washington without a court order. I think it has somthing to do with the fact that those being recorded are not in control of the recording device like they are on an answering machine or somthing.
