[Recruiting - Closed] Planescape Style PBEM

Cabe Zeree

First Post
Hello!

I am looking for players interested in a Planescape style PBEM.

I say style because I want to steer away from the true Planescape setting. Basically want to restructure the planes a little, use some of my own planes, and change some standards. Thus, it can’t be fully Planescape. Plus I took away Sigil and the Lady of Pain…

Yet more sacrilege: I’m not looking to use d20, or 2nd ed D&D either.

However, I love the Planescape atmosphere, and style. That is what I am looking to keep and bring into a PBEM.

Those of you with your curiosity piqued the main campaign site with the “application” info:
Planescape: Chrysalis

For info on the sacrilege I committed to the cosmos:
Multiverse

The Trade Cities that replaced Sigil:
Trade Cities

My homepage:

Any character ideas, or thoughts in general: psc@cabezeree.com

As always forgive the mess! I am restructuring, and rewriting.

Enjoy the eve!

Cabe-

This looks pretty darn cool- I am interested. There is a lot of information on your site for me to absorb, and I will not have time to do PC creation until Sunday/Monday. Also, while I am a big Champions fan, I have not played Fantasy Hero before- but lots of D&D (all editions). If that sounds OK, count me in!

I am leaning towards a Tiefling Sneaky-type, but again need more time to look through my options when I am not at work. ;)

Rowport,

I am going through tonight and working on the locales some more, but the overall gist should remain the same.

If you've played Champions you should be golden. As I said, I'm hoping to keep the mechanics everyone has to deal with to a minimum. Sort of an oxymoron with HERO system... ;)

I’d welcome you to the game! And no one is limited to the races I have in that section either.

Planescape Hype

I definitely realize, I did not do a good job selling my product, but a PBEM like any thing else is something that needs hype:

So for those that were considering before, or wavering now:

Infinity is a lot to explore. From the gothic and brooding structures of Vast, the canals and bridges of Deepholm, to the perplexity of Nexus, and that is just the Triad. The three great cities of trade that allow quick travel to the great planes, be they elemental, mortal, or outer.

Embroil yourself with shifty tieflings, go figure, haunting music that enchants fiends and angels alike, mysterious merchant deaths, disappearing taverns, erinyes with pike to sharpen, dragons seeking vengeance, and back alley soul gambling.

There will be opportunities for your characters to “evolve” as they embrace their ideal, or fall from grace when they make the tough decisions. And the planes will grow and change just as your characters do.

I have devils looking for redemption, and my own twisted version of Alice in Wonderland, and Through the Looking Glass to loose your characters in.

All this awaits those who want to tell a story with a backdrop of the multiverse itself. If any of this is your tankard of grog then drop me a line.

Planescape: Chrysalis , have you planewalked recently?

Thanks! This really looks like great stuff- you have put a lot of thought into planning the game. Count me in!

I will be quite busy the next few days so may not post, but will try hard to get my PC completed by Monday. Shall I send him to you via e-mail, or post here? I will do a Fantasy Hero version directly, I think- it gives me a chance to use my Fantasy Hero rulebook I bought last year! Woo-hoo! :)

My thanks for the compliment!

Believe me, I understand a busy work schedule.

Submitting the character via e-mail is fine.

Just dropping by to say that your setting is very good and the twists to the cosmology are great! :) It would be very nice to play in such a setting, but I am not familiar with the ruleset you are going to use, therefore I'll have to pass. I hope to see you in the future running a d20 campaign in the same setting!

Hmm. I'm interested, but its been a LONG time since I've done anything in Hero. Let me look over it and I'll post again this weekend on whether or not I'm in or not. Either way though, very cool idea! :)

Urge to "Try it out"

For those of you wavering because of HERO rules I say, come to the dark side...errr. Knowledge of HERO won't be necissary for you to enjoy my game. Let me beat a dead horse: I want it to be about story telling.

I know d20 material, I work with the Wanderer's Guild and submitted more than a few critters there. I've played d20 a handful of times. So you could stay strictly d20 on your side, while I work the conversions and HERO mechanics. Seemless, invisible to you.

Sure there'll be skill rolls & some hack and slash, makes for a good story. But do the systems matter? Akshar the Mighty, can cleave a dretch in two in either system. And Myceina Silverwind can blow lemures to smitherines with a gout of flame using d20 or HERO.

I'll be doing the rolls, or I'll tell you to roll and you just give me the number. I'll even tell you how the mechanics work a little if you want to know.

I think a person could come in not knowing any system and do just fine. So those of you that know one system are a level above the rest. You might even come out of this knowing a little more of the HERO system.

If you join and don't have fun, or find the game too tough to follow because of the Mechanics ,then you can leave. With no hard feelings.

I just want to tell a joint story and play some Planescape!

::gets down off his soap box::

Have a good evening!

I've never used the HERO system, nor have I played planescape, though I've always been very interested in teh latter. I'd like to play if there is still room. I'll be sending you the foundation for a character concept tonight via email.
