Regarding the Moonbeam Adepts

I don't know where to take this question, but it's one I've been dying to ask for a long time. So I'm putting it up here, in the hope that the relevant person sees it, or someone who knows who the relevant person is and directs them to it or me to them.

I've been hosting the Adepts on my boards at Tapi for a while now. I've sort of elected myself unofficial guardian of the Adepts. I was wondering whether the title could be made official, and I could get the rights to give out new Adept screennames and/or boot out old and unruly Adepts (not that there are any, but you never know). I would previously have taken this to Adele, but the chain of command of Wizards... well, I don't really have a clue what the situation is now, is the truth. So I'm throwing this out there.

Are the Adepts to continue at all in the change?

Certainly. Why can't the Adepts still leave Juxta? With no more visitors to Juxta, isn't there even more reason for going further afield for your studies? The Adepts shouldn't die, I don't feel - their unique flavour would be missed. If nothing else, they'll be some sort of familiarity for older players and maybe a small inclination for them to continue on the new site - a few, I know, have decided that the change-over is as good a reason as any to leave. Plus, they are an established group with a pretty rich history, and they will (hopefully) help to provide flavour to our new chatsite.
Well, that's what I feel, anyway.

I think the Adepts could continue but I'm not sure of the connection to Juxta. Juxta was a private campaign setting (by WizO Rexx? others from longer ago can correct me if wrong) that the creator allowed Wizards of the Coast to use. This means there may be at least moral issues with claiming to be connected to it, since he didn't give permission to EN World or to the individual Adepts. Could you come up with another locale as their base?

The Adepts are pretty firmly rooted in Juxta - the home of Moonbeams... how would you justify them suddenly leaving? I can't think of a good IC reason that doesn't sound contrived... Besides, you can't make everyone who visits EN World stop mentioning Juxta just because it's no longer one of our official settings. Just because we can't go there doesn't mean we don't remember it. Juxta was a core of our tradition, and it's loss is pretty damn sad for me. In any case, we're not trying to change anything about how Juxta was run, nor disrespect in any way what Juxta was, just maintain one of the IC groups that was based on Juxta and was (to my feeling) important to the site. I'm pretty sure Rexx wouldn't dissaprove. Besides - what happened to getting inspiration from another person's ideas?

There's a difference between getting inspiration from and simply using with the assumption that they'll approve. As it is Juxta was Rexx's creation and it would be courteous at the very least to find out what his opinion on the matter is before supporting any attempt to continue it.

I'll ask Adele for her thoughts on this since I think she may still be in contact with Rexx to see how much continuing the Adepts is supported.

Ah... yes, I'm really sorry, I wrote my last post while in a bit of a bad mood. I fully agree, you're right. Rexx should be asked. I apologise for the tone of my last post... I can only say that it was at least partly due to other things, really, which just found an outlet here. Sorry Trelian and Gabriel!
