Registration Experience (Good or bad?)

I just got into the main page where I click "Buy Events" (again)... wonder if I'll make it anywhere from here?!

... probably not.

So did I. Then stops there.

At least I'm logged in.

Still can't access the gencon forums. I wonder if it's left down just so they don't have to listen to the complaints.

What gets me is:

They are aware of these problems.
We get this whole list of "why it fails"
They tell us what they're going to do.
If you offer suggestions, they bristle and say "We know what they're doing"
If you offer other possibilities (I am a IT Director and have setup complete systems FROM SCRATCH), they get annoyed.

BUT EVERY YEAR - THE SAME THING.
NO STRESS TESTING, NO LOAD BALANCING, NOTHING!!

It's easier to do this via snail mail like in the old days.

From a business standpoint, it's probably not worth it to fix it, or spend money renting additional capacity. Sure, they generate some ill will, but we all still go the damn thing. We're a captive audience. And of the 25,000 attendees, there are probably less than 5,000 of us diehards jamming the servers and complaining right now.

I faxed in my registration to the last two Gen Cons I attended. I only got three of the five games I registered for, but otherwise it worked like a charm.
Is this an option? I would be happy to roll the dice instead of sitting here like a chump...

I can, but only intermittently. My guess is that it's on the same server (or at least trunk).

Not anymore. My last time at Gen Con was ten years ago. Ahhh, the good old days.....

That would be my guess as well. I mean, really, how many of the diehards are not going to go next year because of the Event registration problems? Handful, at tops?

Of course, I'm not a diehard (though I'm trying to register), and I'm considering going elsewhere next year for my vacation already (the final straw, so to speak), but, surely, I'm in the extreme minority.
