Reign of Fire - minor spoilers

Cripes, if nobody else mentions that scene, I'm going to feel like I'm blathering on worse than Harry Knowles.

Salutations,

I would agree- that is probably one of my favorite scenes from the movie. I dislike Star Wars, but I like how they use it to entertain the children- and I love the reaction of those children.

It was a very well done scene.

I like Star Wars (except TPM) and I thought that scene was pretty cool. I can definitely see stuff like that happening in a post-apocalypic situation like that.

Human beings have lousy twilight vision. Our eyes can never properly adjust between the dark ground and the bright sky.

Now that I think about it, the thing that bothered me most was the idea that the dragons had excellent day-vision and even better night-vision, but at twilight their vision goes to sh**? Does anyone know if there are any animals in real like that have this characteristic? I mean, I have trouble seeing at twilight, but I don't go practically blind.

Couple thoughts that come to mind.

1. There might be only one male because the big bull kills any other males that are born before they can challenge him.

2. The dragon just happened to be there when they went picking fruit and were attracted by their movement. The danger of dragons though was not why they were told not to go. They were told not to go because the crops were not ripe yet and they needed them to ripen to the point of giving them germinating seeds.

3. Why have a tank and not use it? Simple. Tanks are big strong and heavy. They make very safe places to be even if they do not have any ammo in the main gun.

4. He was pissed at the people in the castle because the loss of his 3 men were a greater loss than killing some dragon. The only way to win is to kill the male. Every loss fighting a female is a wasted death.

It probably also pissed him off that the people in the castle were celebrating when they had not done anything. The people were so cowed with terror that none of them had ever met someone before who killed a dragon. Remember their motto was run like mad and every man for himself.

5. The only real plot whole I saw was how we went from one male to one male and thousands of females. My guess is that either the male had unferitilized eggs in the lair with him or he could smell them and dug them up where they were buried like he was.

Well I finally saw it, and my thoughts, move your mouse over to see comments.

1) Those guards who got fried were asking for it by not dispersing. I mean.. BREATH WEAPON. HELLO!

2) I never saw a dragon move silently before. Of course he was sneaking up on a castle... ;)

3) The movie poster made me think there would be gunships taking down them dragons! Now that would have been cool! Talk about false advertising.
