"Religous" women that was taken hostage gave her captor drugs.

Seeing how someone very close to me is a recovering addict, and my last LTR ended becuse I found out she was doing drugs, I have a very negitive view of people that do drugs. Its a trigger for me. I have seen first hand what they can do. All the users try to justify it, but drugs destroy and kill.

Caffeine, alcohol and tobacco are drugs too. Of course, if you with "drugs" mean "drugs that are illegal in my country and have lots of negative propaganda behind them" you are perhaps correct in the those-who-agree-with-me-agree-with-me sense if you know what I'm saying. ;)

Take Cannabis for example. Legal in some european countries, also used by rastafarians.

I'm trying to figure out why religious is in quotes.... Reading the link, it seems her book only adds to her story, doesn't change the parts about talking about religion.

She had been portrayed in earlier stories of the incident as very uhh.. prayerful? I guess.

I dunno. I don't think everyone is a druggie or anything (KenM! what a statement!) :)

I don't think all drugs are that bad, just most people that are really into them are kinda.. lame.

I think meth is pretty darn devastating though- I think it ruins peoples lives.

Are you saying meth is analagous to caffeine, alcohol, tobacco, or cannabis? Are there claims that meth is not harmful similar to the other drugs you mentioned? Is it more analogous in its effects to the harms of cocaine and heroin? Is meth legal anywhere or used by any culture or religious group similar to peyote use by certain Indian tribes in specific ceremonies?

I don't even know what meth is, unless you mean methanol. :)

I was only quoting what KenM said about "All the users try to justify it, but drugs destroy and kill.".

Cheers

I'd almost have to think you were kidding. Meth (and it's variants) use has been on a massively sharp rise for years (in Canada also) now because it's cheap to make and until recently could be done via over-the-counter medications.

I guess I'm cynical but I think we still have not heard the entire story about her 'miraculous' ordeal and I fear it won't turn out to be very pretty.

The reason I put that in quotes is becuse when the story first happened, she said the religious themed book "The purpose driven life" helped her through the ordeal. IMO She is not that religious if she does drugs. But I don't want this thread to turn religious.

Well, I'm neither religious nor a recreational drug user, but I have to say I don't buy your premise. The sincerity of a person's religious beliefs has no correlation, IMHO, with their lifestyle choices. I hope that is sufficiently vague as to not trigger mod alert. ;)
