Didn't this same thing happen during their setting search competition too? They put out the info about the contest, then they added a legal agreement to it later. Seems like they would start keeping their legal department apprised of any open call deals.

Ya know, I tried. I tried my darndest. I went to Borders and leafed through the FRCS... I hunted on the Web. I constructed a story that was actually going to have, you know, characters in it and stuff. It just wasn't happening.

I know exactly what you mean. I toyed with the idea in my head for a week or two, had the first page written out in my head, looked at the FRCS, Magic of Faerun, Silver Marches, Faiths and Pantheons etc., but my lines of thought would all have had to be..altered..to be suitable.

A serious story involving sadism or masochism or both would be too much, but dumbing it down is just.. dumb. I guess the problem is that it's Forgotten Realms; but for a lot of people won't be a problem at all, so good luck to you brave submitters.

I got a call from WOTC's Book Department about this issue. The rep on the phone emailed me the form for me to print out, sign and snailmail back to them ASAP. It's in the mail now, and it ought to arrive there in a week or so. This isn't an issue; it's just a glitch.

As for writing the book: try an emotional abuse angle, because pain need not be physical or consentual.

Whew! I finally finished my submission at 8 AM today. Just couldn't seem to find the time to sit down and write with all the craziness that comes with the end of a school year.

Anyway, I overnighted it a few hours ago. It's supposed to arrive by noon tomorrow. I hope it does; I'd hate to miss an opportunity like this. I still can't believe there aren't more people admitting to entering.
