Remember when Dungeon Magazine was all about adventures?

I do. I hope while re-thinking D&D, they also re-think the magazines. I'd like to see them return to print, but that might not be feasible. But I do want Dungeons magazine to return to its roots.

In the future, we need more focus on adventures.

What do you think/hope for?

I do.

I liked it.

The adventures were good.

They got even better, and more extreme with Paizo.

They turned into whole campaigns, aka "adventure paths".

That's a nice resource and it sells a system if people wanna play that within the system.

Oh hell yeah.

I pine for the glory days when Paizo ran the magazines. I still read those issues in the bathroom; they are a lot of my go-to bathroom literature, and let me tell you, that's the mark of a good magazine. Seriously- if you want to read it over again years (and editions!) later, you want to buy more like it. Too bad there ain't such a beast to be found at the moment.

(Most recent re-read, IIRC, was Box of Flumph. I love that module!)

WOTC's Dragon has done pretty well for itself. I just recently (September) got a DDI membership, and the Dragon content has been quite interesting.

But, yeah, Dungeon needs a lot of loving. Go back to the three adventure/month format, please. Three SOLID adventures, not mini-adventures or just encounters. Those should be extra.

And, if WOTC is going to keep on with online Dragon and Dungeon (which, honestly, I do believe it will continue to do), then for the love of Peter, Paul and Mary, GET SOME ADDITIONAL FORMATS!

It's freaking ridiculous that pdf is the only format these are available in. PDF sucks unless you read on a computer monitor. Epub (or heck, Mobi or whatever) is the way to go for those of us who want to read the electronic format on something other than a computer.

I realize that it would take a bit of extra time to do that, but, sheesh, it seems like such a no brainer. Even single column pdf's would be fine since that's pretty easy to convert to epub.

But, right now, I'm trying to read the Design and Development collection that WOTC just put out. Interesting read. But, with the formatting, I can only read it as a pdf - it won't convert because of the three column format. GRRRR.

Gimme something I can read on a Kindle, Iphone or Nook. PLEASE!

Yes, indeed. My favorite Dungeon Adventures were the short ones--like Side Treks--that I could easily drop into my campaign. I also liked the card stock sheets of counters, and I loved the d20 mini-games such as Omega World. It really would be great if Dungeon came back in print with those features.

I want a print Dungeon back, with adventures and DM-specific content. It's a bonus if Paizo puts it out.

If Dragon & Dungeon stay digital, they will get just as many subscription dollars from me as they get now, which is to say none.

Well, I'm going to be totally selfish here and say that I hope that Dungeon and Dragon never go back to print. I'm an overseas subscriber. Try paying about 120 bucks a year ((IIRC)) for each subscription and see how much you want print back when you can get the DDI for about half the price and get both magazines to boot.

Now, if they'd just start putting out a bloody epub edition I'd be REALLY happy. Or at least a fairly unformatted, single column pdf so I could do the translation myself. Sigh.

James Jacobs has a very pertinent post about the magazine format over on the Paizo boards. The thread's here, but I can't link to the post directly. It's about halfway through the conversation, near the top of page 2 for me.

It's not a binary decision- there are plenty of print magazines that are also available in electronic format.
