Remembering the Classics...

Oryan77

Adventurer
like Sunless Citadel, Red Hand of Doom, and...oh yeah, Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil.

I remember playing these way back in the good ol' days of D&D. Back then, we used physical books with real paper to play our games. We didn't have to print anything off if we didn't want to.

I still have the original 3.5 PHB in mint condition. It's quite a collectors item these days!

A lot of people say that most of the 3e adventures weren't any good. But it wasn't really about the storyline & creative encounters back then. It was more about knowing the rules and being able to use them correctly throughout a published adventure.

Ya know, all this thinking about the classic 3e edition is making me want to start up a new 3e campaign. I hope it won't be difficult finding players that want to play with me!

What's not so funny is that I'm in a group that has been slogging through RttToEE since the first month 3E first came out. And we're only just now done with the Inner Fane! I believe we have one more major section to go.

God, I remember I used to purchase actual hard copies of DRAGON magazine! None of this online stuff that we have today. I still have a bunch of them on my shelf...

Hey .. remember when Oryan77 posted that hilarious thread about nostalgia for things that aren't that old? Remember? Those were some good times. The generation of 2 hours ago is much better than the generation of right now.

LOL. You win.

Man, you guys wouldn't believe how hard my group fought against changing editions. I had to drag them kicking & screaming into 7th edition, they were just too comfortable with 6th edition. I can still remember Matt complaining about how neural interfaces were too MMORPGish and that if you didn't click the button to roll the dice yourself it wasn't D&D.

You Grognard! You always gotta bring up old news. This thread is a good 3 hours old and there you go reviving it. What's the latest hip term for that? Threadnomancy? Yeah, you're doing it! Just let this thread die already will ya?! I started this thread so long ago that I don't even remember writing it!

I remember the days before total immersion. You know, before when they scanned you, replicated you right down to your DNA, and then recreated you in the form of your character in an alternate universe and electronically transferred your entire consciousness there for the duration of the game. Man, D&D used to be so cool before that. Now its just painful.
