Removing save-or-die: Too much of a good thing?

Thanks all,

I am in full agreement that the SoD of 3.5 was not a good system, especially because it was so ever-present with sneak attack, death effects, poison, even mind blank and true seeing really (since when they were "on" whole schools of magic were effectively "off").

I also love where 4e is going on this, really I do. I guess my concern was that 4e was going from all save-or-die to all save-or-something - which is better.. but it's the all that bothered me, I like a wide variety and so it wouldn't be so bad to have some powers that had greater effects on a fail, but nothing on a save to counter balance what we are seeing now.

Truth be told, hearing that it is the important resources like daily powers that are SoS is great because those are the ones that the PCs will most want to have an effect.

So colour me happy.

Oh,

That's an extreme itself.
