What happens if a character somehow gets the ability to use claws as a monk weapon and has the rend ability? Would you get one rend for every two hits? One rend only? No rends at all?

What happens if a character somehow gets the ability to use claws as a monk weapon and has the rend ability? Would you get one rend for every two hits? One rend only? No rends at all?

Well, the rule for natural weapons is that you never get more than one attack for a high BAB.

Now, there are assorted effects - mostly non-Core - that allow you to break this rule. But the question never comes up for all the Core creatures with Rend, because they can only ever hit once with one claw, and once with the other claw...

So you pretty much have to make something up

Based on the Two-Weapon Rend epic feat, though, I'd say the monk would have to declare which claw he was using for each attack... and if he achieves a successful hit with both claws in the same round, he rends, with a maximum of one rend per round.
