Repeat viewings of Movies?

Singing In The Rain. I watched a VHS copy of that EVERY DAY for like, two months.

Good call. I could do that. It's probably my favorite musical, although High Society gives it a good run for it's money. Bing Crosby, Frank Sinatra, Louis Armstrong, and Grace Kelly. Can't go wrong with that. Mmmm, Grace Kelly...

The Adventures of Robin Hood with Errol Flynn, Olivia de Haviland, Claude Raines and Basil Rathbone, hands down.

Ahh, another of my favorite movies. Although in some ways I prefer Captain Blood with the same cast (sans Claude Rains.) Both with Erich Korngold scores, too, which is part of their charm. Maybe that's because that just came out on DVD after long being unavailable, so it's still a bit fresher.

And Hatari! with John Wayne and Where Eagles Dare with Clint Eastwood and Richard Burton are two movies that I see over and over again too; they never wear out on me.

Star Wars ANH, easily, which I've seen probably 12-15 times. It sorta goes against my rule of thumb, which is, if I see a movie twice, it must be good, and if I've seen it three times, it is truly a great. The number of movies I've seen more than three times are few: Star Wars (the original trilogy), Tombstone, The Princess Bride, Dumb and Dumber, Dragon: the Bruce Lee Story, Monty Python and the Holy Grail, The Matrix, Superman (1 and 2), 13th Warrior, Good Fellas and LotR: Fellowship of the Ring.

LOL, too true. Personally, I slightly prefer the original Naked Gun but I can't deny Airplane it's deserved place in the sun.

The Crow. I never get tired of watching that movie. Wasn't the movie I thought about when I voted, but I have seen it more than 10 times.

I saw lord of the rings three three times and the other two four times. I've seen star wars three times already (the midnight showing and the next morning's digital showing). IF something is good enough where i have to see it again to "get" something then I'll do it.

The movie industry today is not built for repeat business like it was in the old days. Before big openings were spaced out allowing you to see something over and over againbefore the next big release. Nowadays with movies being so expensive repeat business is unusual which is why movies stay in the top ten a week and move on.

I guess it surprises me that so many people so far have seen a single, particular movie more than ten times. If I had thought this through more before I added the poll, I might have distinguished between "in a theatre" and just seeing it at all, but the more I think about it now the less I feel that is important.

Seeing it is seeing it and it's really the time commitment that I feel is important.

Someone has to feel that at any given time when they have the choice between seeing a movie they have already seen and doing something, anything, else, they choose to rewatch the movie. For some, that's like a week's worth or work at a fulltime job. That kind of devotion impresses and surprises me.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say the movie I've seen most often is the first Ghostbusters, easily over 10 times, quite possibly numbering into the hundreds of viewings. It's been a while, though.

I use to watch it constantly around age five to eight or so and have since seen it a few more times as well.

However, there's a number of movies I've watched and rewatched. Particularly as just background television, where I don't really want to pay attention to what's on, don't really want to find something on, and really just want on something decent, that I've seen already, that won't distract me. As of late it's been Shrek 2, because it's been on a whole bunch on HBO.

See, I can't do that. If the TV's on, everything else fades into the background automatically. That's mostly why I don't watch much TV anymore. I get tired of not feeling like I'm ever getting anything done in the evenings.

I agree. As I mentioned, I've seen Star Wars 12-15 times, but at least 10-12 of those times was between the age of 8 and 12. If I see anything more than once at the theatre and once at home anymore, it's got to be pretty darn special (and it's got to be good to get even that much attention).
