replacing the stablization rules

it has always bugged me that the stabilization rules are based on a flat 10% chance.

I've been thinking of replacing it with a fortitude save based on dc 15 + how much damage was done to the character.

you still die at -10 though barring unusual circumstances.

It only makes sense that if your tougher, you are more likely to survive a near death experience.

characters that are tougher, have more hitpoints, and will generally not end up in the minus as fast as less tough characters.

The 10% is a chance that you recover without help.

The RAW gives you plenty of alternatives, including heal checks, cure minor wounds, etc. to let you recover without that 10% chance, as long as there is someone to help you.

And 10% is more likely to come up than you think. You make that 10% roll every round, not just once!
