Why is ENWorld so against anyone that post anything critical about 4E. It seems that the surest way to get dogpiled on this forum is to say anything the slightest bit negative about 4E. The worst part is that the moderators seem as bad or worse than the posters. It seems that anytime someone posts something critical of 4E they either get warned, the thread is closed, or they may even get banned or suspended. What happened to open discussion? Why is the moderation of these boards so heavy-handed? Ari's thread about his playtest experience is a prime example of this. As soon as people started airing WotC's dirty laundry about their "If you can't say anythign good about 4E, don't say nothing at all." e-mail, the thread got shut down. Has ENWorld been paid off by WOtC or what? Does anyone have a good explanation for this?

Reason:
a "why is EN World so anti-4E-criticism" or whatever thread. I say point 'em to the sticky thread, invite them to post their concerns there, and close it. My opinion only! :)

The thread itself is not so bad as the first post, and Shazman's subsequent "I expect to get banned post. Something probably needs to be said regarding the comments about moderating. Thoughts?

In a way, other posters have come in and pointed out the flaws in his initial assumptions more effectively that we would at this point, and if we jumped in now it might make us look defensive (unless someone as erudite and funny as Piratecat did it, natch).

So I'm happy to let it ride at the moment.

Oh. I was going to post, "What do you mean? We're not down on 4e, and you're banninated for saying so!" But I suppose your way is better.

Hmmph.

Reason:
Criticising mods, discussion about modding in wrong forum, ludicrously suggesting ENWorld has been 'paid off' by WotC and generally being stupid.

I went ahead and posted a few of my thoughts (not because I'm more erudite and funny than Kevin but because I didn't come here and see your idea of keeping above the fray) but so far everybody is behaving nicely. I made sure to include some comments indicating that they'd better keep it that way.

Woot! Didja hear that? I handled something well!

FWIW, I'm the moderator of whom S'mon says "Some of the moderators here are very heavy handed (and I have emailed one to complain, though his action wasn't directed at me) even by ENW standards" and "I have only seen one moderator whose behaviour I consider objectionable, and I thought he was a bad mod long before 4e was ever announced.".

Considering he is a fellow countryman, I am sadly reminded of the Bible verse which says "a prophet is not without honour, except in his own country".

I don't think he ever sees anything I do in a positive light, which is a shame, but hey, what can I do, eh? You'll not be a moderator long if you want to please everyone :)

Oh, I see mmu1 is joining in with the 'anonymous mod bashing' in that thread now - so it might be worth someone saying/doing something about that.

I'd nominate Rel, considering the stirling job he is now doing there :)
