"Requiem for a God" in Eberron - who bites it?

I've been bandying about the idea of using Malhavoc Press' excellent Requiem for a God event book in Eberron.

Who would you knock off, why would you choose them, and how would you have it play out?

Considering that their are no gods in Eberron, just vauge concepts, I'd say something of godlike power, like a Dalkier overlord or Rashaka Rajha.

At first blush, I'd pick the Silver Flame. I have no PCs that worship the flame, so it wouldn't hose any one player too much, but it's a prominent enough religion that it would have direct impact on them. Thrane would undergo serious upheavals, and it's a central nation so the effects could ripple outward. The part that gets me rubbing my little DM hands together greedily is the thought of flames extinguishing one at a time, releasing ancient horrors on the land.

Hmm...

The problem, of course, is that Eberron's gods don't work like that. They don't manifest, they don't appear, they may or may not even exist.

So I'd replace the dead "god" in Requiem with some other being, one of nigh-godlike power but not a "true" deity. Perhaps one of the Lords of Dust, or one of the oldest dragons of Argonnessen.

Yeah, that's why I wanted to throw this question out to the lions. They don't mesh together perfectly as written, so some adaptations are required. More brains is good!

Some other candidates:
Vol
Lord of Blades
Undying Court

The Host and the Dark Six are significantly more nebulous, so it'd be harder to adapt Requiem for them.

Vol and/or the Undying Court could certainly work. Not sure about the LoB, unless you've already established his "godliness" in your own campaign, but it might, depending on how you present it.

You could always kill off the dragon Eberron, but that might have repercussions... ;)

Just because Eberron's Gods don't make house calls at the drop of the hat doesn't mean that they don't exist.

The existence of the Gods is purposefully left up to the DM as one of the setting's mysteries. "How Divine Magic works" and "The existence or not of the Gods" is up for DM interpretation, just like "What caused the Mourning".

The Silver Flame is a very hairy thing to just knock over, namely because 1) There's a really nasty fiend bound inside of it, and 2) That would pretty much de-stablize Thrane. A theocracy whose physically manifested God just croaked is going to cause some serious damage, both politically, socially, and defensively. But, if you're willing to but a bullet in a god's head, then you're probably willing to metaphorically nuke one of the Five Nations. It would certainly shake things up in your campaign, though I don't know how many new adventures it would offer up.

If I had my pick though, I'd say "Kill the Undying Court".

I wouldn't kill any of the big names -- you may want them later. A Lord of Dust is a BIG deal, but not in a "we all know his name, Social Security and cell phone number" sort of way. Whack one of them, and have it both ways as a result.

Even better than that - there are LOTS of really nasty fiends bound inside it! It'd make for a neat Lights Go Out campaign. The neat thing about Requiem is that it's not just about the death - it's also about the dying. If the flame died over a couple of years, the binding fires could flicker, releasing weakly-bound minor evils first, before guttering out one at a time and releasing the really big baddies piecemeal. Adventures galore!

Why would you go with the Undying Court, and what would be the ramifications? I haven't read much about Aerenal, so I don't know how that would go down.
