Residuum is silver

I declare residuum to be astral diamond dust, regardless of what they say. Fits thematically, evocative to old editions, and makes accepting them as high level currency all the more fitting. :)

Plus it makes astral diamonds actually have real value for more than just "people like shiny pretty things."

This answer is a SLAP IN THE FACE to all D&D players everywhere!

I know that I, and every reasonable person everywhere, will be instantly house-ruling golden residuum.

... what? :p

Ummm, excuse me, but residuum is --and this is obvious to anyone with any sort of reading comprehension-- only the finest Belgian Dark Chocolate. There's simply no other substance magical enough.

Silver? Gold? What are people thinking these days??

That is absolutely fantastic. Were I a Falchion user, I'd be sorely tempted to set up such a thing. :)

You'll love this then, although it is somewhat obsolete for D&D.

Gah, when they went to the new board style did they erase the image size limits? I posted the image in the link below but it was HUGE. So, I edited this post just to give the link.

Who is to say that this question isn't important? D&D is as much about imagination as it is about rules. Anyway, a lot of questions the sage answers could be figured out by players on their own. This one couldn't. Its a contradiction with no way of reading the intent of the designer.
