I declare residuum to be astral diamond dust, regardless of what they say. Fits thematically, evocative to old editions, and makes accepting them as high level currency all the more fitting.

Plus it makes astral diamonds actually have real value for more than just "people like shiny pretty things."

Right, it's like you had a die that could somehow roll a bell curve between 2 and 8. But since no such die exists in reality, we use 2d4 to simulate it.

You'll love this then, although it is somewhat obsolete for D&D.

Who is to say that this question isn't important? D&D is as much about imagination as it is about rules. Anyway, a lot of questions the sage answers could be figured out by players on their own. This one couldn't. Its a contradiction with no way of reading the intent of the designer.

I'm running on the silver standard (1GP=100SP) and residuum is gold. Literally. Same with ritual components.
