Residuum is silver

Who is to say that this question isn't important? D&D is as much about imagination as it is about rules. Anyway, a lot of questions the sage answers could be figured out by players on their own. This one couldn't. Its a contradiction with no way of reading the intent of the designer.

The colour is irrelevant besides showing what utterly horrible editing the book went through. More important was the fact that one entry says it's too valuable to use in trade, the other says that it's a commodity. *sigh*

Me.

And, apparently, several others that commented in this thread.

I never said it wasn't important though, I just implied that other questions are more important. You don't agree with that?

Not really. It was something that has been bothering me, and some other folks. My point is, just because it's fluff and not crunch doesn't automatically make it irrelevant. Besides, it is a nice change of pace to the sorts of questions he usually answers.

If I were going to guess the reason why the Sage answered this question first and not others may have something to do with the number of people who sent the question. Obviously I don't know, but knowing fandom in general, this is just the sort of question that a hundred people sent in. Don't you think?

Significant or not, the discrepancy is one of the errata noted in UnderageAOLer's thread. Me, I take it as a promising sign that other issues in that list will be addressed too.

Yeah, they answered this question because it was easy to answer.

Incidentally, it's something I immediately decided to house-rule. Similar to Ars Magica's Vis, Residuum can look like anything, depending on it's source. In most cases it will be easy to recognize it for what it is, but from time to time it may also be hidden in plain sight.
