Resting to regain HPs

So, you rest at night to regain 1hp/level, yes? What happens if your party gets attacked during the night? Does healing occur? Can they rest an extra 8 hours to get that days HPs back? Do they have to wait until the next night? Can I end more sentences with question marks? Thanks?

Any period of 8 hours of uninterrupted rest during the day will result in the healing 1 hp/level. If the entire day is spent in bedrest, 2 hp/level are healed that day.

If your 8 hours of rest are interrupted by battle, you do not get any healing for that period of rest and would have to start the 8 hours over in order to get the healing.

Yeah, that's what i thought...but can someone quote me the rule that says that you cannot keep resting in consecutive 8 hour increments. I know I've read it but I can't remember where. Thanks.
